We were told they would arrive between 9am and 10am but they didn't get there till noon. It was only after I made several calls that I learned the job before mine had run long and thus the delay. A whole lot of anxiety could have been avoided if they had just called to let us know they were running behind. Once they were there they worked very hard, were very respectful of our property as well as being courteous and polite. They were willing to do everything we asked and accomplished everything in the time I expected. I would use them again but a better handle on arrival time would sure be helpful.

I hired S&L express through Hire A Helper to move a washer, dryer and elliptical trainer into my difficult to access basement. They arrived on time and were very courteous and accommodating. When I couldn't remove the gas fitting from the existing dryer, they offered to help and carefully got it removed. The access to the basement was convoluted and required holding these heavy items by hand at awkward angles, but they did the job quickly and nothing got a bump or scratch.

Hiring S&L was the best decision we've made! We had Trent, Jeremy, and Damien. They were amazing and worked so well together. They were on time and worked so hard! We had a few very heavy items including and elliptical that had to go all the way in the basement and they did it with ease. Not one thing got broken and they were extremely courteous of our belongings. If I could give them more than 5 stars, I would! You can't go wrong with this crew.

Helpers arrived approximately 2 hours late, but the dispatcher was very nice and offered a discount for this. The 2 helpers did have some difficulty getting larger pieces of furniture down the stairs and a drawer will need to be repaired. However, the helpers did work very hard in the time they were on the job and did an excellent job fitting a large amount of items into the container provided. They were conscientious of protecting items and assisted in wrapping chair legs in bubble wrap.

I had used S & L Moving Services twice before for moves within Chicago and both times had positive experiences. This time we were moving cross country and the experience was not good. The guys assigned to the job called at the start of their day and asked if they could come early. I told them we couldn't do that because the truck wouldn't be there until 12p.m. CST. They were booked to start then. Instead they showed up about 20 minutes behind schedule. They were being hired to help us move our 1 bedroom home and two storage units into a truck. They came without any carts or dolly's despite being told what to expect in the hire a helper system. The day they showed up we were behind schedule packing our belongings into boxes for the move. We had a single day to pack and load the truck. While they helped us pack the belongings into boxes and get the job done on time they went too quickly to safeguard our belongings. They helped us immensely by packing our belongings for us but simultaneously didn't take any protective measures to help safeguard the items when packing them. They didn't wrap the legs of some of the furniture and they didn't remove shelving from any of the furniture. We asked that our furniture be wrapped in blankets to protect them and they did that but they didn't pack the truck well so a good deal of the furniture arrived with big gashes on it. At one time they even sat on a furniture item we asked them to wrap after telling them it had immense sentimental value to our family. They didn't damage it but that showed how respectful they were of our request. We arrived at the new destination and a number of our belongings are damaged that they packed in boxes. They put glass and ceramics in boxes without any wrapping. They wrapped multiple ceramic bowls together in a single bit of bubble wrap. They put glass shelves on top of the pile of items in the truck without any protection. They put a glass vase, a popcorn maker, and a metal candle holder in a box together with no paper and no bubble wrap. Want to guess how well that worked? They put the couch cushions in cellophane wrap that tore and the cushions got dirty in the truck. They put boxes clearly labeled fragile in big piles toward the bottom of the truck. That smashed several boxes that were fragile. They put a steamer in the truck without emptying the water so in transit it bounced around leaving water all over a box of clothes that got soaked and ended up moldy by the time it arrived on the other end of the country. I'm not giving them a 1 star rating because it's fair to put some blame on us for the fact that we weren't ready for them to come move us on the day they came. Yet they told us they were professionals when we questioned why they hadn't put furniture blankets on items until we asked. They then spent the entire time they were at our home telling us we were dealing with professionals and that we didn't need to worry because they would doing things correctly. At that point I put my trust in them and it is their fault for not telling us when they got there that they needed more time to get the job done right. Things they got right, they were fast, they were friendly, and they worked really really hard. I would not use S & L Express Moving to move furniture or to pack your items. At all. Ever. Under any circumstances. I would say you're fine to hire them if you need pre-packed items moved for you. If you want to wrap everything yourself and hire them you should be happy.

Our favorite part is seeing customers looks of relief after we've assisted them and also knowing that our company assisted in minimizing some of the customers stress that comes along with moving

Our service providers and sub-contracted and most already have the needed skills to perform the job. I've heard that they stay updated by actual on the job experiences dealing with unexpected issues and how-to video guides available online
