Major Neighborhoods in Albuquerque

Everything you could ever want or love in the Southwest can be found in Albuquerque. Picturesque mountain and desert views, iconic adobe homes, and unique food. Because of the sunny and dry climate, there are plenty of outdoor events year-round, not least of which is the International Balloon Fiesta. (And if you don't get to do the "Splash and Dash" in the Rio Grande during your hot air balloon ride, don't worry, there's always next year!) If you're curious about all this fuss around red and green chile, try local spots like The Owl Café or Weck's — especially for breakfast. But no matter what brings you to this city that's way more than a namedrop in a Bugs Bunny catchphrase, there's a neighborhood waiting for you. And local movers who will help you get there stress-free.

Nob Hill

If you like to live in the middle of a city's bustling nightlife and restaurant spot, then Nob Hill is for you. The neighborhood sits along Central, which used to be a stretch of America’s iconic Route 66, and no matter what you're in the mood for, the area has it. There are wine bars like Central Bodega, cocktail lounges like Happy Accidents, and vegan options for lunch like Lucky Goose. Plus, if you need to walk off all the food and drink, you can wander around Mariposa Gallery for local artwork, or head to one of the other numerous galleries, shops, or boutiques. All this fun attracts a lot of people, so if you want to join the Nob Hill community, make sure to hire local movers who know how to navigate the crowds and traffic.

Downtown Albuquerque

Downtown Albuquerque is where you'll find many of the city's businesses, iconic landmarks, and events. The KiMo Theatre, for instance, has been around since the 1920s, and continues to host concerts, dramas, and musicals. But the event space doesn't stop there. If you'd prefer to watch open-air movies and live performances you can also visit Civic Plaza, or head indoors to the Albuquerque Convention Center for rotating exhibits, art galleries, trade shows, and more. And once you've worked up an appetite, Monroe’s Restaurant has been serving authentic New Mexican dishes in the area since 1962. If something is happening, it's probably happening Downtown, or near to it. But unlike the rest of the city, parking is probably going to be a pain, so hire local movers to handle those logistics for you.

Old Town

Old Town is the city’s first neighborhood, founded in 1706. So if you're in love with adobe, this is the place to check out. The San Felipe de Neri Church is an icon of Spanish Colonial architecture and is a central feature of the area. But in addition to all the fantastic buildings, Old Town is also home to the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science, and isn't far away from the ABQ Biopark Aquarium and Tingly Beach. And if all of that wasn't enough, it's also near a lot of iconic Breaking Bad sightseeing spots. Keep in mind, if you're moving in the wintertime, the neighborhood decks itself out for the holidays and hosts a Holiday Stroll, so it can get incredibly crowded! Hiring local movers can make your relocation easy no matter the season.

Sandia Heights

Sandia Heights is a suburb tucked away from the rest of the city in the northeast foothills of the Sandia Mountains. The views are unparalleled here, and you can enjoy how the mountains got their namesake every sunset when they turn watermelon-pink right from your backyard. You're also just a hop away from the Sandia Peak Tramway, which will take you to the summit for a bird's eye look at the whole city while enjoying a drink at Ten 3. One tip, though: since this neighborhood is right beside the mountains, weather patterns like rain and wind tend to be a little stronger. The good news is local movers know how to handle things in rain or shine, so if you want to move into a new home to enjoy the views, be sure to hire professionals.
