In response to these comments: We technically were NOT late. Hire A Helper provides a 1-hour arrival window. Yes, we did not arrive exactly at the "preferred start time" which we always try to accommodate whenever possible. But the arrival window is in place for a reason. Unexpected travel delays do happen unfortunately.

Yes, there was a "learning curve", as we were asked to perform a task that we were not familiar with. The customer asked me over the phone the day before her move if we had any experience using these new vacuum-seal mattress bags. I explained to her that while we have moved them before, we had not actually packed the mattresses into them before. She explained that she was having trouble figuring out how to use them. Her vacuum was not sucking the air out of the bag as it was supposed to. She asked if we would be able to give her a hand with this when we arrived. I happily agreed and said we would help with whatever she wanted done. These bags were indeed not user friendly. The instruction booklet was hard to understand and the vacuum she was using did not seem strong enough to suck the air out of the bags as intended. After several failed attempts at getting the bags to work ourselves, we asked the customer if she wanted us to keep trying, or move on to the real reason that we were there, which was to load the furniture into her rental truck. She insisted that we keep trying. So I'm not sure why she is saying here that she "shouldn’t have had to pay for the extra time." We work on an hourly paid basis. While we are primarily hired to help move your furniture and belongings, if we are asked to help out in some other way, we typically do (within reason). But you are still paying us by the hour. Do you not expect to pay us for our time, just because we are doing a different task that you asked us to do?

Yes, we did charge an extra half hour, because we were on site working for an additional hour. We did ask the customer if she wanted us to continue working after her initial 2 hours were up. She replied that she wanted us to stay and keep working because not all of the large items had made it on to the truck (mainly because of all of the wasted time on the mattress bags which we were asked to keep working on. Again, we typically can stay longer if asked. But we do still expect to be paid for our time. I don't think that is an unreasonable request. Also kind of funny that nowhere on here did the customer mention that while yes, we charged her an extra half hour of labor, we actually stayed closer to an hour over because we felt bad about the mattress bag debacle.

And yes, we did "hang out" in your driveway after the job. This had nothing to do with you or the job. This had nothing to do with whether you decided to tip us or not. This had nothing to do with the fact that we stayed and worked almost another additional hour, and only charged you for an extra half hour. We were simply going over our work schedule for the rest of the week. And if not leaving the properly directly following our exit from your house was bothersome to you, then I do apologize for that. I had no idea that this was an issue.
