I have used Hire a Helper three times. The first team was excellent. I used this business twice. It was two years a part and it was accidental that I used the same service again. The first time was when I first moved to the area. Items were damaged, the team arrived late and the provider demanded a tip. The manager then disappeared. I did not leave a review. I should have but I know how damaging it can be to small businesses.
However, its 2 years later and now I had to move again. I chose one of the top companies. Unfortunately the experience was worse. The two guys showed up late. They were not the team that was supposed to show up. They sent my team to a house across town. I told them while my current space was small, I moved from a house and had a garage as well. But because of my address, they sent my team to another address. So I get a team who was assigned last minute. They were high. I know this because of what I saw and what I smelled. They didn't bring a dolly. This slowed them down. The truck was improperly loaded. They broke several items. Then while they were on site they were scheduled for another job. Now they have to leave my job. It took forever and now my job isn't done. I had to rent the truck for another day because they were not going to be able to unload the truck. The next day they sent the original team and they were much more experienced. This had to be the clean up crew. The crew you send when you mess up. I was appreciative but then I saw that I had a broken floor lamp that was valuable both in cost and in attachment. They also broke a chair and table. This all was clear during the unload. The owner acknowledged that the movers owned it. I reached out to the owner several times after this and I never heard from him again. No response. I called and texted. I asked about insurance. All the while I had to pay for the truck another night. Then I had to move the remaining items by myself because the truck was not packed properly and they ran out of space on the truck. It cost me two additional days. It was so bad that I had to leave a review. The only reason that I am giving 2 stars is because of the crew that came on the second day.
I am one for three with hire a helper. To be fair, I chose the same business twice. I have a better idea of which information that I am going to gather up front to help with my decision making moving forward or I will use another service.

Felix, Herman and Marcus were THE BEST! They cared about everything they packed into the pod. They were friendly, on time and kept in touch prior to moving day. I would highly recommend them!!!

I would hire them again. They answer the phone and don't insist on using texts. Felix is proactive, a good planner and communicator, and pays attention to the details for you. The load was still in place after a 500-mile ride on the 26' truck. You should hire them, too.

They did a great job. This was a last-minute job right around the holidays and they came in and did a great job. They were a little later than expected, but they had let me know before hand and it was no issue. As soon as they got here they got right to work and did a great job.
