Austin Mover Reviews
arrived early, fit all my stuff in a small pod, wrapped everything to prevent damage, and were super cool.
Team showed up on time and got the job done.
Wanna and Marquan were professional, good communication and completed move in allotted time frame.
They did a great job. Always fast and always professional. Extremely helpful.
Jay and Victor arrived early, were willing to wait until I was ready for our appointment, and got the job done in 30 minutes (while it took three men 45 minutes to load my container). They were respectful and careful and made a great team. Thanks!
The guys did a great job very quick and extremely careful I would absolutely recommend them and use them myself
Very polite and hard workers
Raymond and Paul were fantastic. Thank you for the move. Will be reaching out again for any future moving needs!
Came very last minute bc previous movers no showed so appreciate that. Didn’t speak English though so was hard to communicate
On time, worked diligently and efficiently. Polite, creative in packing, and extremely careful with all items. Three fabulous guys. I wish they were on the other end to help in unpacking. Definitely recommend this service.
they did a great, quick job. very professional and timely.
Excellent service. They were very careful with the move. I'd recommend them to anyone.
Caleb and Lamont are great. They helped me load a moving pod with all of my furniture. They arrived right on time, worked efficiently and are very friendly. I would absolutely recommend them.
Very fast and efficient. They were very friendly and very helpful!!
A#1 movers did a great job! They arrived early and worked hard from the moment they arrived until their time was up. They wrapped all the furniture carefully and moved everything we asked them to from an upstairs apartment. They transported and unloaded our belongings into a storage unit- even arranging it so we had plenty of room for extra items. We will definitely call them when it’s time to move again.
Great, hardworking, and efficient movers.
Scheduled at the last minute when another crew canceled. On time. Worked very hard. Nice guys.
They worked hard and moved quickly. They didn't waste time and were respectful and easy to get along with. I had a physical issue keeping me from helping very much and they had no problem with that at all. They were friendly and personable. Great to work with! Highly recommend! I'd use them again!

Real Advice from Austin Movers
We asked local movers about what you should know about moving in Austin. (They’re really nice!)
"When we need extra trucks or last-minute storage for a customer in need, I always go to this uhual. It's in a great central location, they always have trucks and solutions of all kinds including storage. The employees are very nice. Austin traffic can be challenging in a big moving truck, so stick to Mopac, I35, and the toll roads for the easiest access to Austin's best neighborhoods. "
- Moving Right Along TX"With the Texas heat, the sooner you schedule your services the better for everyone. Additionally, Austin traffic has been progressively getting worse with more and more people moving to the city, so planning around morning/evening rush hour would be most beneficial!!"
- Texan Tuff Movers LLC"Austin, Texas is a growing city and the best highways to use are I-35, Mopac and 360. If you are in search of Renting a moving Truck, I would personally look into Penske as they offer unlimited miles when going out if state and you can return the rental in any state. If you are in search of a new state of the art Storage Facility: Bee Safe Storage will give you the best/cheapest rates in town!"
- Busy Bee Moving And Storage LLC"With the Texas heat, the earlier in the day you schedule your services the better for everyone, we start as early as 7am! Additionally, Austin traffic has been progressively getting worse with more and more people moving to the city, so planning around morning/evening rush hour would be most beneficial!!"
- Texan Tuff Movers LLC"Moving to downtown Houston can be a headache if you don't have a reserved freight elevator or a reserved loading zone. If you reserve these ahead of time, you can save hours on your move."

Major Neighborhoods in Austin
Austin undoubtedly lives up to any expectation as the capital of everything's-bigger-here Texas. Of course, it's known for being a grand stage for music, but it's also home to some spectacular natural beauty, like Lady Bird Lake and the Zilker Botanical Garden. You've also got research, student life, and college sports centered on the University of Texas. If you want to be a part of Austin's liveliness, your best bet is to hire local movers — they can handle freeway exchanges and navigate every neighborhood with ease.
Downtown Austin
Downtown Austin is a neighborhood that feels like it's made up of a bunch of different, smaller pieces. You've got Sixth Street with the nightlife and annual events like SXSW. Meanwhile, nestled next to all the modern music venues and restaurants is the Texas State Capital, built in the late 19th century. And running along the waterfront is Lady Bird Lake Hike-and-Bike Trail, a mini natural escape from the city. No matter where you settle in Downtown, be sure to hire local movers who know the area to make your relocation stress-free.
South Congress (SoCo)
South Congress, affectionately known as SoCo, is an eclectic hotspot for locals and tourists. It's home to the Continental Club, a music venue mainstay that's been around since the 1950s. You can also visit the South Congress Hotel for its modern architecture, boutique, and motorcycle shop (yes, really!). Keep in mind, while the area's walkable, it's pretty hilly — but you do get great Downtown views at the top. Local movers know how to navigate those hills with heavy moving trucks, so rely on them whenever you decide to make SoCo your new home.
Zilker
Zilker is named for a 358-acre park in the same area, and as you'd expect, it's a neighborhood with a lot of green space. A lot of restaurants will have patio seating so you can enjoy all that nature, including Opa, a dog-friendly cafe that also specializes in Greek food. You can swim year-round in Barton Springs, a natural pool in the middle of the eponymous park, or enjoy seasonal events like the Trail of Lights. Want to join the Zilker community? Then have local movers handle all the logistics of your relocation.
Clarksville
Clarksville has been on the National Register of Historic Places since 1976 and is one of the city's oldest and most cherished neighborhoods. You can really get a sense of that history from spots like Caffé Medici, one of Austin's first coffee shops. There's also Texas's largest independent bookstore, BookPeople, which often hosts signings by some big-name authors. While officially spanning only nine square blocks, letting local movers navigate the dead-end streets and main thoroughfares like West Lynn Street will mean your move won't have any delays.

Frequently Asked Moving Questions in Austin
Q: Will HireAHelper movers assist with a college move?
Absolutely! HireAHelper movers can help students move into dorms, apartments, or shared housing. They serve schools like the University of Texas, Austin Community College, Concordia University, and other schools in the Greater Austin Area.
Q: What do most movers charge per hour?
Movers in Austin typically charge between $80 and $150 per mover per hour, depending on the moving company's size, services provided, and demand. For local moves, rates for a labor-only, two-mover team usually start at $442 per hour. Larger teams or additional services may increase costs.
Q: What factors affect moving costs in Austin?
While things like distance of your move and the size of your house are huge factors impacting the cost, the same size of house could vary significantly based on how many stairs you have, whether you have any super heavy items (no one likes moving pianos!), and whether you plan on getting extra help with things like packing.
Q: Do I need to tip movers in Austin?
It's customary to tip movers, but the amount depends on details like how big your home is, whether or not there are stairs, and if you have extra heavy items. $10-20 per mover is standard for a typical move, but for a big move, $50 per mover might be appropriate. For full-service moving, people do 5% of the total cost.
Q: What day is the cheapest to hire movers?
Mid-week, specifically Sunday. Moving companies experience lower demand on these days, which often results in reduced rates compared to weekends or Fridays. Consider scheduling your move during the off-peak season (fall and winter) and avoid the beginning and end of the month when demand tends to be higher. Planning ahead and booking movers in advance can also help secure better rates and the exact date you want. The cheapest month to move in Austin is August.

The crew showed up early and got right to work. They are very efficient and take good care of your furniture and other items as if they were moving their own stuff. We used Ogre Man to both load our POD and to unload it. Highly recommended would use them again if the need ever arises.
