This was a terrible experience overall. The movers helped but they didn't load the truck even close to the top, insisting that we had "plenty of space" despite my repeated requests for them to load it fully.
When a friend and I tried to help, they asked us not to, although I told them I was worried they wouldn't get it all.
In the end, they left me with lots of large items, a truck which was not fully loaded, but with the back piled so high that they were literally throwing my items to the front of the truck where they had left SO MUCH space.
One of the most stressful days in my life, no doubt. In the end, I had two choices. Unload the entire truck and do it correctly (which I could not do by myself) or drive back and plan a second trip. I drove back and literally doubled my moving costs.
Also, they damaged multiple items and even dragged my mattresses through the mud.
One of the guys smelled like marijuana and every time I came back into the house he was acting like he needed to "organize boxes." He basically worked about half of the time I paid for.
I would never use that company again and thankfully I bypassed Hire a Helper and found a great mover to unload the trucks at our new home.
Giving me my money back, which I doubt will even happen, doesn't even address the issue that I had to go a second time and DOUBLED my costs.
Disappointed doesn't even begin to describe how I feel. It's not HireaHelper's fault, per se, but this company was supposedly highly rated. Just really upset about this experience.
If you are considering using this service, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you get a local recommendation from a someone you know. If you can't do that, be really insistent with your movers that they follow YOUR instructions and make a plan so that you can get them moving.

These guys kicked ass and took names! I couldn’t have been more pleased. We booked them for 2 hours to move a 2 bedroom and they were DONE in under 2 hours. Perfect job! I couldn’t be more happy!

Roosevelt and his partner (I think his name is Tom) did an excellent job. They worked hard, organized the truck carefully, and got everything packed fast. They are true professionals. I’m so glad we hired them.

Roosevelt and Roy did an excellent job with my move. Even though I had a lot of heavy pieces to haul up to the third floor, they were fast and efficient loading and unloading. Would definitely request this team again!

We've noticed that customers who have items already packed and furniture items wrapped save time and money. However, we are more than happy to assist with any of these task the day of the move, just please book adequate time if any of these services are needed

What's your favorite part about being a mover?
Our favorite part is seeing customers looks of relief after we've assisted them and also knowing that our company assisted in minimizing some of the customers stress that comes along with moving
What training do you provide your crew members?
Our service providers and sub-contracted and most already have the needed skills to perform the job. I've heard that they stay updated by actual on the job experiences dealing with unexpected issues and how-to video guides available online
