Two days prior to this job, I emailed a detailed list of the items to be loaded into a Pack-Rat container, along with a diagram (loading plan) showing where everything would fit. Lashaun, my contact at S&L Express acknowledged receiving my email and the attachments.
The two helpers arrived within the one-hour window we had agreed on.
When the helpers arrived, they knew nothing about the instructions I had sent. I showed them the loading plan diagram taped to the Pack-Rat container door, and showed them that each item to be moved was clearly tagged with letters A-Z on red or blue tags. There were about 50 items to be loaded, in approximately alphabetical order. I had hoped that my directions would be followed. But right from the start, my directions were ignored half of the time.
The first item to be moved was an antique china cabinet. I asked them to remove the drawers before lifting the cabinet, in order to make it easier to move and also to avoid strain on the cabinet frame. The drawers were full, and some were rather heavy. They ignored me, and moved cabinet, with drawers, contents and all, tilting the whole thing as they went through doorways.
Fortunately my wife and I had removed all of the drawers from the dressers, etc. to be moved, so there was no argument about moving those items without the drawers in them. Apparently these workers did not want to spend time removing and replacing drawers ---- THEY WERE IN A HURRY.
I caused some delays as I tied ropes around some items to secure them once they were loaded. This caused the helpers Trent and D? to become very impatient. I told them to take a break -- there was plenty of time to complete the job in the two hours of their time I had PAID FOR. But again they ignored what I said. They were clearly far more interested in finishing as quickly as possible than it responding to my directions.
They were finished with what they considered an OK job in about 95 minutes. I signed off on the work and was not sorry to see them leave. After they'd gone I discovered a large void (empty space) in the middle of the container where they had carelessly placed a table on top of another item. with the weight of the table largely supported by a narrow brace between the table's legs.
I had to remove several items from the container, including the poorly placed table, and then proceeded to fill the void with boxes we had set aside in case we had space for them.
I would not recommend S&L to anyone who expects hired labor to take simple directions from a customer. Again, they seemed far more interested in finishing ASAP than in following directions.
I have filed a damage claim for one item that was deeply scratched through their carelessness. The top of a wooden dresser was gouged by the corner of a steel filing cabinet as the cabinet was being moved in to place on top of an item next to the dresser.

We wanted a contactless experience: get a shipping container loaded. Great communication leading up to the service date, as well as the day of. The container was loaded efficiently AND faster than I expected. The movers were professional and courteous. The moving process was made much more tolerable thanks to this experience.

We've noticed that customers who have items already packed and furniture items wrapped save time and money. However, we are more than happy to assist with any of these task the day of the move, just please book adequate time if any of these services are needed

Our favorite part is seeing customers looks of relief after we've assisted them and also knowing that our company assisted in minimizing some of the customers stress that comes along with moving

Our service providers and sub-contracted and most already have the needed skills to perform the job. I've heard that they stay updated by actual on the job experiences dealing with unexpected issues and how-to video guides available online
