they were a couple hours late due to a previous move but once they got there it quickly became apparent that they knew how to pack a truck and work together to get it done. During the packing of my Penske truck I was not impressed by My Guys Moving Service. They never called to confirm the move, I had to phone twice before I could confirm the timing. This by itself would have been ok if not for the service I received during the loading of the truck.
Initially, they were supposed to arrive between 8 and 9am. They arrived at 9:30am without calling to say they would be late. There were two men. My impression was that one was fairly new to the job and the other had more experience. While they were loading the truck, they simply wrapped the furniture in blankets without securing the blankets as I have seen other moving companies do. When I queried the experienced one who was loading the truck, he said that this was how they always do it and we could tape but that would take time and was unnecessary. As many of the pieces were wrapped in a way that the blanket could not fall off, I accepted this explanation but insisted on adding tape to a few pieces where the blankets were not as secure. No items were shrink-wrapped, as they had been by movers in previous moves, even though I had called to confirm they would bring shrink-wrap with them and two items would probably have been better protected with it. The men loaded furniture first, leaving the boxes for last. When they were most of the way through loading the furniture, the antique bed headboard and footboard were simply wrapped in a blanket and laid on top of other furniture items. The two of us who were watching them wondered how the remaining items and boxes would fit without putting the headboards and a few of the other delicate and antique items at risk from boxes falling on top of them. When we asked, the men insisted that they would have room to stack the boxes in the remaining space, but agreed that this stack would extend much higher than the furniture and headboards. From our perspective, there did not appear to be any support that would prevent these boxes from possibly toppling onto the furniture in the event of a sudden stop or swerve of the truck. When we asked the men about this, eventually the experienced man got defensive and said he could unload the truck and pack it another way but he wanted to stop this questioning now before they got further in the loading. We asked him to redo the furniture, and it was then repacked in a way that provided better protection and also more room for boxes and other items. In retrospect, I still do not see how his original loading would have worked without risking damage to the antique bed. But given this interaction, I tried to limit my questioning and hovering to protecting the very delicate items and the boxes marked “fragile,” which were sometimes plopped down heavily instead of being set down gently. Multiple times (starting early in the move) one of the movers mentioned that he just wanted to get this job done. When I arrived at my destination, I discovered some damage to my kitchen table because it had not been dismantled and the way the movers packed around the base of the table when they reorganized the truck resulted in a gouge in the base.
I cannot recommend the company for other people. And I also had comments from my other Hire a Helper movers at the other end of the move about how the guys that loaded the truck really should have dismantled much more of the furniture than they did. When I pair how they handled my goods with poor customer service of not calling to say they would be late I simply must recommend that you find someone else.

My Guys showed up on time. They brought and extra guy who we hadn't discussed or quoted, but he turned out to be necessary to get the job done on time, so it was a good job of foresight. They were very nice, courteous and tried hard to be careful with my stuff. There were a few mistakes but working as fast and hard as they did, I was surprised that only one or two things went wrong. All-in-all, they were VERY professional and helpful. I would definitely use them again or recommend them to someone. A good price for GREAT work!

We had a great experience. We hired 2 guys for 5 hours. They showed up on time, brought 4 guys and were super speedy. They were fast and still careful with our stuff, super friendly, very accomodating to anything we needed and hard workers. We would 100% hire them again.
