I had booked Mygrate Moving Systems for a Sunday afternoon between 1 and 3pm. I received a phone call from them ~1230pm and was told that they would be late as they were finishing up a job in the Baltimore suburbs. They showed up ~345pm. I had booked 2 movers for 2 hours. I had a one-bedroom apartment on the 13th floor with 2 steps to get into the building. I had reserved the elevator for 2-5pm as I thought the latest they would get there would be 3pm and it would take 2 hours. When they did arrive, one worker started unloading the truck while the other worker went to park his vehicle. For some reason, the worker who started to unload the truck brought everything into the building lobby first instead of packing the elevator that was open and reserved. When the second mover came to start working, he informed me that my job was too big for 2 people and he would have to call a 3rd person in and I would have to pay $15/hr ($30 total) extra. I said that was okay because at that point I just wanted to be moved in. They did finish before 6pm, but I no longer had the elevator reserved from 5-6p so we had to wait for whichever elevator was not being used and try to fill it up as fast as we could.
During the move, one of the workers stopped to eat potato chips while sitting on the back of the truck and kept talking to people he knew on the street.
Overall, I was disappointed by their tardiness and inability to do the job with 2 movers. I had hired movers in Chicago (the place I was moving from) and they showed up early and were able to complete the job in less than 2 hours. Also, my Chicago movers weighed all of 150 lbs and were still able to move all of my stuff in a timely and efficient manner.

Mover's response:
NOTE: Without equivocation, the above ‘epilogue’, is a perfect example of what happens in a worst-case scenario, and, particularly, when the advisement of a professional mover, goes unheeded.
If you are moving from a residential location in which has either an ELEVATOR, MULTIPLE FLIGHTS OF STAIRS, or a LONG-CARRY (where the distance between the back of the moving truck, and your front door, is more than 50 feet), then your move WILL take longer, than if those conditions did not exist. Great Service - these guys were prompt and professional. They got the job done in speedy fashion and made moving pleasurable and easy! Thanks!

Mover's response:
We're pleased to hear that you're happy with the decision you'd made in coming to us. The truth? I don't know that we could've done our jobs so well, had you not done yours. Welcome to the Big Apple!

Absolutely top notch. Rondell and Tyrone were fantastic! We had a couch, loveseat, and box spring that would not fit up the interior stairwell - so these guys got them up three flights of a narrow, steep fire escape! I 100% recommend this service, and these two men in particular. We couldn't have done this move without them.

They were on time, courteous - and even after I had them carry an entire apartment worth of furniture up to a third floor walkup, they didn't complain. My heroes!

Mover's response:
There are few words for this, except 'Thank you!' We all needed to see the light at the end of that tunnel, (smile). Also, we don't compromise on our commitment to quality, Olivia. But, we're glad that you could witness that, first-hand. Again, thank you!

Great service. The movers worked hard and finished on time. Nothing was damaged

Mover's response:
Debts aren't usually pleasant, but the least we could do is say, 'Thank you, thank you, thank you'!! Welcome to our family, Emily, and into our care!

They showed up 4 hours late. When they did arrive and the clock started they took way too long to pack the truck - we'd had everything 100% ready the night before in order to avoid a delay. One of the movers was very out of shape so he had to keep taking breaks. Some of my items were damanged since they dragged them on the ground instead of carrying them.

Mover's response:
Your level of preparedness was a breath of fresh air. Thank you! We did, however, take the breaks necessary to COMPLETE the move, seeing as how you refused to pay for extra help, and did NOT have available, the proper equipment. Handtrucks and dollies would have helped greatly, in transporting the 65+ boxes (many of them, books), and furniture, up the 120 ft. walkway, then up 3 flights of stairs. We are distressed to hear that this did not turn out for you, as planned. Best wishes...

They broke my couch and said they were going to mail a check two weeks ago. I still haven't received it!

Mover's response:
Are you referring to the check for $48.50?? You had us send it to an address in Ohio! Please check with your party, out there.
