The helpers called late the night before stating they could not be at the location at time we scheduled. Because of the late notice we were unable to secure different helpers and were at the mercy of the delay. Even then they showed up late. Although they were careful with the furniture, they did not move very swiftly, not friendly, pushy and ran over the 2 hours because they dragged their feet. It should not have taken them as long as it did to unload the furniture. They did not follow instructions for locations of furniture and one of the office employees ended up moving furniture after they left, when she realized things were not where they belonged. Boxes where not stacked neatly just haphazardly put in a storage room vs. stacking them neatly and safely. Furniture, that was heavy for the office personel to move was left randomly in offices. We were less than impressed and it cost more than we expected.

John called before the move to introduce himself and find out what would have to be unpacked. John and Andy arrived on time and kept me informed when he was on his way. They unloaded my u pack cube quickly, put the furniture where I wanted it and set up my bed and foundation for me. When I move from this apartment I will definitely call John. Julie Puderer

John and Andy did a fantastic job unloading a 20' truck and a 16' pod into our house. It was a big move: 3 refrigerators, a Coke machine, six beds, lots of containers, etc. They were fastidious and kind and took such good care with our stuff. The highlight of the move was a home-made, six-wheel dolly that they used, together with straps, to move our antique, refinished and extraordinarily heavy wood stove. They also did the impossible--fitting a giant couch in an area it just wouldn't go (narrow doorway at the top of stairs, with a wall just inside the door). John removed the base of the couch, worked with Andy to ease it into the room, then reassembled it, good as new. Lastly, the previous owners left behind an old, inefficient refrigerator behind our basement bar. John and Andy slid the old one out of place and vaulted it over the bar (sliding it on blankets, then eased it to the other side--then reversed the process to put our (much newer) fridge in place. As the other reviews indicate, John even stuck around to help us assemble furniture and sweep out the POD and rental truck. Extra hours, but well worth it. Can't recommend these guys highly enough.

What can a customer expect after booking with you?
We are available to call as soon as the reservation is made! We confirm all details, answer all questions, help with advice, suggestions, info and feedback. We make a call to confirm, and send out a email greeting.
What can a customer expect on moving day if they hire you?
We arrive at the designated location and time, ready to work. We can help out wherever needed. We make sure loads are secure and safe. We provide moving equipment and tools. As owner of johnshelpinghands, I am present on each job with many years of experience in, not just moving, but a wide range of knowledge of many areas.
How should a customer prepare for moving day?
Discuss plans with helpers. Confirm all details. Plan out all your moving needs. Complete packing, cleaning, and organizing prior to moving day. Set aside personal items, valuable, important papers, and travel needs in a safe place. Mark boxes with info about the contents and locations. Box all TV's, wrap mattresses in bags.
What types of moves have you handled?
I have experienced moves for over 50 years. Cross Country, local, small and large. From single items to multiple vehicle loads. All types of moves, including Homes, Offices, construction, wharehouse, equipment, vehicles, trailers, etc. We specialize in custom moves and equipment, including Pianos, safes, machines, fitness equipment, hard to fit, lifts, delicate items, materials, and much more! We also provide other services including assembly, transport, trash removal, hauling, and more.
What's your favorite part about being a mover?
Meeting great people, helping them with difficult needs, knowing how to accomplish tasks that many have failed at.
What training do you provide your crew members?
I provide advance prior training, hands on, one on one, constant communication, demonstrations, feedback, multiple alternatives to task completion, repetitive training, post job debriefing.
