What can a customer expect after booking with you?
After receiving a booking request from a client, I will call the customer to confirm the information is accurate. I will discuss the best possible strategy with the customer that makes them feel the most at ease with the process.
What can a customer expect on moving day if they hire you?
On the day of the move, you will receive a call with the projected ETA of the movers. Upon arriving at the house we will lay out some flooring protection and then do a brief walkthrough of the house. After the walkthrough, the moving process will begin with gathering supplies. All of the furniture will be padded or shrink-wrapped per the customer's orders.
How should a customer prepare for moving day?
If you are interested in saving as much time and money as possible, you can do many things to achieve this. The most time-consuming task is often disassembly or assembling of furniture. We can do any and all tooling but it will be charged hourly like moving. Another way to save time and money is to reserve an elevator if moving into an apartment or storage unit. These facilities usually allow you to request a service key to have exclusive use of the elevator.
What types of moves have you handled?
I have personally been in the moving industry for over 10 years and have experience with a variety of moves. I have done local, long-distance, labor-only, military, and any other moving service you can think of needing. I have done commercial and residential moving during that time as well.
What's your favorite part about being a mover?
I love seeing someone thrilled with moving into a new home and asking us for the best-kept secrets of Pittsburgh. At Brown's Moving and Storage, we believe that giving back to your community is just as important as the moving process itself. We collect canned goods and donate them to the local food bank. So far this year we have donated 150lbs of food.
What training do you provide your crew members?
All of my fellow professional movers have been in the industry for many years. There will never be someone on the job that is new and doesn't know how to properly move furniture or belongings. That is how damages and accidents happen and it is easily avoidable. There is a rigorous 3 step training program that any new mover must adhere to and complete before going into the field.
