This is my first time hiring movers and it went perfectly. They showed up at the start of the arrival time window so I didnt have to wait at all. They were professional and polite. They worked quickly and efficiently while treating my belongings with care. I would/will hire them again.

On time, courteous, and respectful of my things. These guys were hard workers who came in a bit under my budgeted time.

I would absolutely hire them again and wholeheartedly recommend them.

Mover's response:
Thank you Cathie! Have a wonderful Holliday Season :)

They were on time and worked hard to make sure the job was done on time. They packed the pod efficiently knowing it was going cross country. Nothing was broke not even my mothers 60 year old China and crystal. I would definitely recommend them.

The guys did a good job and were very friendly but the cost was too high especially since I gave them a tip as well

Mover's response:
I'm glad our crew did a good job for you Gabriele, and gratuity is never expected but always appreciated by our crews for their grand efforts. Our rates are set at very competitive market values and you were aware of the price prior to booking. Your job was located in Salem which is a 1 hour drive for us each way.. I disagree that our price is too high considering that we put our safety on the line everyday for our customers not only with heavy lifting and stairs but also driving long distances to get to job locations (even more dangerous!).. Thank you for the positive feedback about the work completed :)

The four workers arrived on time and worked hard as a team to get the job done. They were careful and prepared to do the work. I would definitely use them again. Thank you.

Mover's response:
Thank you Michael :) We hope you are settling well into your new home I know it was a tedious journey and it was our pleasure to help you get all squared away on this end! -Nick

From the "on-line" reviews, I thought I had a service that could handle my move...WRONG !!
I share part of the blame, as I had a move with three different "piles" that had to be loaded-so they could be off-loaded correctly. I had each box marked (with colored stickers-so this part should have been easy to follow)

Not sure the "background" on the person loading--but they did a HORRIFIC JOB !! I had a 26 ft truck, with 13 foot ceilings, yet they loaded only 6 ft up, and used the entire truck--mind you I had boxes, which could be stacked. They also failed to load the load correctly, and when we came to off-load it was a mess.

Mover's response:
Hi Charlie, thank you for taking the time to talk to me yesterday about your move. You also emailed photos after our conversation and I will agree that this was not the prettiest load, but I was also happy to hear that everything made it safely to the other end with no damage. I also believe that there were more difficult variables at play with this move than perhaps your previous moves: You were not 100% packed and ready to move, this will always cause confusion and communication breakdowns with any hired help. There was little to no furniture it was mostly all 'Chowder' (industry term for loose items) and having to separate chowder it into 3 different 'piles' (as you accurately put it) makes it even more difficult to maximize cargo capacity.. Our crew lead Jonathan has been loading trucks for us for over 5 years and has an additional 10 years of industry experience before working here. Him and I alone have accomplished hundreds of jobs together. He reported to me directly after your move and remarked that it was a difficult 'chowder bomb' load. He also said they went above and beyond moving a 300+ LB elliptical upstairs on-site. I will agree there may have been some things we could have done a better job at such as take more time to follow your labeled instructions, but organization and order of operations were off from the get-go and I believe we still worked hard and got the job done. I do value and respect your opinions and experiences with other professional moving companies and we sincerely appreciate you selecting our service. I will also be offering a partial refund for any problems caused on our end. Thanks Charlie! -Nick

Get To Know Us

What can a customer expect after booking with you?

Customers will receive a follow up confirmation email upon booking. They will also receive a courtesy call the day before the move to confirm details and to inquire about any changes as is often the case with moving. Of course, at any time prior to your move you can contact Hire-A-Helper or speak with us directly with any changes or questions about your move. Friendly answers to questions are just a call away!

What can a customer expect on moving day if they hire you?

Our crews will arrive approximately 10 minutes before the scheduled time of the move and they will be waiting on-site to meet with you. They will arrive with all the specified equipment needed to complete your job as discussed and arranged previously with our staff. For every job they arrive with Tools, Dollys, Heavy Liftings Straps, Floor Runners for protection, Shrink Wrap & Moving Blankets, Tie Down Straps and more. If specified they will bring a variety of other equipment for Pianos, Hot Tubs etc.

How should a customer prepare for moving day?

Small and fragile items should be wrapped and boxed. Labeling boxes for your identification as well as the movers is always helpful at the other end. If you can stack boxes and arrange them so the movers are able to get to them with the Dollys this will save time and money. Stacks should be chest high and allowance for the movers to get to them should be made. Clear pathways for the movers, secure pets, and practice social distancing when the movers are on-site.

What types of moves have you handled?

We do all types of moving; Local, Long Distance, Office & Industrial. We are a Labor Moving Service. We do not provide or drive trucks. We specialize in container moves i.e. PODS, ABF, U-Pack, U-Box, & Pack Rat. Our customers also rent and drive their own trucks as well as rental moving trucks i.e. U-Haul, Penske, Enterprise, Budget, etc.

What's your favorite part about being a mover?

I am proud to be a native Oregonian. I was raised on a small cattle farm in Ashland. My Parents were full time teachers and farmers and showed me the fundamentals of hard work and perseverance. I thoroughly enjoy this business. From interacting with our customers to find solutions for their needs, and getting out and assisting our crews in the field.  I look forward to meeting you and helping you along your way!

What training do you provide your crew members?

Safety is always #1 ! Every Oregon Trail Mover starts as a helper and follows experienced crew leads with after undergoing a rigorous training protocol process at our headquarters. Each crew member is first evaluated for their individual talents and abilities in order to assess where they may be utilized most effectively on our team whether that be packing and wrapping, detailed inventory with computer skills, or the ability to lift heavy weight repeatedly for hours on end.
