I hired 2 helpers for 2 hours to help me move the contents of my 1 bedroom condo into a PODS storage container in the driveway of my complex. They showed up on time but it was all downhill from there. I am 36 weeks pregnant but nevertheless had spent the morning carrying boxes downstairs (I live on the 2nd floor so there is 1 flight of stairs) to my porch to give the guys a head start because I knew the stairs would be annoying and I wanted to make sure they could finish the job on time. They started out complaining how difficult their previous job had been that day and it was a hot day so I'm sure they were tired before they showed up. That was unfortunate for them but didn't change the fact that I had a job that needed to be done and that I was paying them for. They also only brought 1 furniture dolly with them. They should have brought a regular dolly that they could have stacked boxes on since I did specify in my job description that I had furniture AND boxes to move. I have never seen 2 guys work so slowly. I mostly saw them standing around and resting while I ran laps over and over up and down stairs and to the POD with boxes. At one point I had to take a conference call for work and one guy just stood there for 5 minutes waiting for me to get off the phone to tell me they had 20 minutes left instead of continuing to work during that time. They also hardly did anything during the 30 minutes I was on my call. I had filled my porch with boxes AND stacked a bunch next to the storage POD and they were all still sitting there when I got off my call. I think they took advantage of me not being able to watch them to just hang out. One guy even said he had sent his boss pictures and his boss was impressed with the work they had done - not sure why he was taking pictures for his boss instead of working ?!?! And I wonder how much of MY work was in the picture he sent ... I have moved MANY times over the past 15 years and this was my absolute worst experience ever. Since they were being paid to be at my place for 2 hours I don't think they cared at all how much work they actually did during that time since they are paid for the time not the job. I was left with a bunch of boxes still in my condo and spent the next several hours carrying them by myself to finish the job. I also gave them bottles of water and they threw them on the ground next to the storage container even though the dumpster was right next to the storage container - too lazy to even throw out their trash! Using these guys was a HUGE mistake!
