The team that helped us unload our trailer was absolutely amazing! They called us to let us know when they would arrive. They accommodated our requests and were very kind, super professional, and incredibly careful with our belongings. Their attention to detail and positive attitude made the entire process stress-free. Herb the manager was good with communication but dropped the ball about bringing a dolly for the moving labor helpers to use. We had to go rent one because the helpers were moving our boxes one at a time up and down steps. We called Herb and he thought the helpers had a dolly but he did not do anything to correct the problem. The two helpers [Frankie & Omar] were very good and handled all our goods with care and effiectency.

They did a great job of clearing everything out of two garages. Then they put everything into a Pod. They returned a few days later and cleaned the Pod out putting everything back in the garage where it was originally.

PLEASE- YOU WANT TO READ THIS REVIEW I am three weeks late writing this review. None the less, my gratitude to Eric, Steve and Tommy for doing such a fantastic job , and caring about my valuables as if they were their own, needed to be expressed. PR is best when it is Word of mouth. It is key to branding a good reputation in the business. I needed to share this with the public and thank them for having such excellent Associate's to work with on such a stressful day. I know because I have moved 9 times since late 90’s and I HAD been loyal to a company that I repeatedly used the past 4 moves. I won’t say the company name, but I will tell you that was the last time I used them, not because the men who worked the job didn’t work hard, but because of a mistake made by the company not following up on a mistake- and all of us make them. How do you make up for a mistake was up to the owner. It was upsetting to me because I started using their service in 1998, and the last move, a mover dropped an expensive Armoire, and he felt horrible. They took pictures of it and said assured me the owner, Brett, would contact me on Monday. I did not hear from the owner nor anyone else in the company. I made calls and sent emails asking for them to file the insurance claim, so Ethan Allen could be paid for the repair. When I paid for the damage done to my armoire, my loyalty to that company ended and any good WOM referrals for all the other good experiences I had with that company ended. One bad review can lose hundreds of new customers and sadly One GOOD review will only gain you one or two new customers. Either way, a good or bad experience, people do remember the interaction. What most take the time to share is the bad and I could t let this excellent experience go forgotten. I am glad Joes company was smart in sending an 2nd email to remind me share my experience. It was an excellent experience and for those who use ratings and read reviews, I wanted them to know with confidence they should pick Joe’s not just for being priced right for the work they do, they are honest and you will be treated with respect, and so will your belongings. **Thank you Joes Moving for the fantastic and pleasant experience with your crew and the way you handled my belongings with care. You did the move in less time than I was quoted, and you did it with care to both my old home and to my new home. ***** 5 stars and would leave more. The company you want to use in your next move!!!

I hired Kimiya Services last minute (7pm for a next day 11am move) after realizing I could not handle moving all my stuff myself and I truly could not have asked for a better move experience with them. I am so thankful they were able to accommodate a last minute job on a holiday weekend! Mel and Rob were awesome! They were friendly, professional and very efficient. I will 100% hire them again in the future!!

A view of Rochester, NY's cityscape along the Genesee River

Major Neighborhoods in Rochester

Rochester is known by many nicknames, like "The Flour City" and "The Flower City" to name a couple. But the most well-known is "World's Image Center", granted by being the founding city of several famous photography companies, and you can still take a tour of where Kodak was founded at the George Eastman Museum. You can see more of the city's history when viewing the old industrial buildings clustered along the Genesee River and Lake Ontario. Or if you're more interested in the present and live entertainment, catch a Rochester Rhinos soccer game at the Rochester Community Sports Complex, or a concert at Photo City Music Hall. Before you make the move to Rochester, check out our list of local movers. The pros have the experience and knowledge to get you smoothly to your new home.

Park Avenue

Park Avenue is one of the city's most popular neighborhoods, especially for dining and shopping. Virtually everything is within walking distance, including the Rochester Museum and Science Center and the attached Strasenburgh Planetarium. Being able to stroll around is even better when you can window shop, enjoy the area's historic homes, or opt for outdoor seating at local favorites like Blu Wolf Bistro and Funky Cow Café. In fact, there's even an annual Summer Stroll through the neighborhood, featuring artists and specials from local merchants. If you're already planning the walking route you'll take from your new home, also plan to hire local movers. They know the area like the back of their hands, and will use that know-how to make the process a breeze.

South Wedge

About five minutes south of downtown lies South Wedge, a neighborhood with a history in the jazz music scene. The shops here are as unique as they are varied, so if you prefer buying local above all, this is a great place to be. Hedonist Artisan Chocolates sells, well, chocolate, along with ice cream sourced from local dairies and fruits. Or you could visit The Little Button, a hand-crafted goods store where the products are all made by local artists. Or if you're into DIY cooking, the South Wedge Farmers Market has fresh produce and spices from local vendors for you. Sounds like a fit? Then take some of the stress off the process by hiring local movers. You'll be glad you left it to the pros!

Highland Park

Highland Park is named for the 150-acre green space that sits at the neighborhood's southern end. The park itself is something worth talking about, as it doubles as an arboretum and has over 500 varieties of flowering plants. In fact, there's an annual Lilac Festival, which hosts live music and a 5-10k run on top of offering a chance to enjoy all the flowers. But there's plenty to enjoy outside of the park too, like the specialty milkshakes at Highland Park Diner, a traditional American diner complete with counter seating and a neon sign. Whether it's the flowers that drew you to Highland Park or something else, know that local movers and their expertise can help make your moving day experience completely painless.

Corn Hill

Corn Hill is the city's oldest residential neighborhood, located right on the banks of the Genessee River. If the idea of living on the riverfront is already exciting, then the Genessee Riverway Trail will be an even bigger perk. The 24-mile trail runs directly through the neighborhood and connects it to other popular parts of the city, like the University of Rochester. Rather stay in one spot? Lunsford Park is a beautiful green space with flowers and a historic gazebo that occasionally features live bands. The neighborhood also boasts the Corn Hill Art Festival, a summertime event that draws in over a quarter million visitors. So if you're moving during that time, hire local movers who know what areas to avoid so you don't get trapped in those crowds on moving day.
