Okay, so maybe we were spoiled by the company that helped us load the truck, Pink Zebra, because they were AMAZING. We paid them the same as what we paid Pro Movers and their service was spectacular. They were extremely professional, friendly and hardworking. Pro movers on the other hand… well, let’s just say it was obvious they didn’t want to be here.
I decided to pay a bit more for Pro Movers to help us unload our truck after moving to FL from NC bc they had great reviews and seemed as though they would be more professional than the cheaper movers. But for the service they provided, I feel like I should have just gone with the cheapest movers and saved some money.
Not only did they never introduce themselves to us, they just piled up all of our boxes in the nearest room by the door, they arrived late, kept stopping to complain, left 30 minutes early and had the audacity to ask for a tip at the end of it all.
I got the sense that they were not trained as movers or in customer service. To be fair, I did tell them to leave the boxes on the bottom floor so they could focus their time on getting the heavy items upstairs. But when they were done with the heavy items, I feel like they should have started putting things in the correct room or at least not left tall piles in the easiest spot so it’s hard to even access the boxes we needed - especially bc they had time to do the work correctly.
In the end, I did tip them $45 bucks each bc I know it’s still hard to move furniture and after driving all night we really didn’t have the energy to argue. I would have tipped them more though had they don’t a good job.
I think the lesson learned is not to go through Hire a Helper for movers. You pay in advance and the company doesn’t have any incentive to work hard or earn your business with good reviews.
