When I completed the online information with Hire a Helper regarding the items to be moved, I clearly indicated that I had 2 bedroom suits and a piano that had to be moved. I was told not all helpers will move pianos, was matched with Real Deal Moving Systems as a company that did move pianos, but that a piano required 3 helpers, so I gladly incurred that added expense to have it done correctly. Real Deal Moving Systems was scheduled to show up between 10 and 11 am on Oct. 9. Charles Bates of Real Deal Moving Systems called me at 8:42 the morning of Oct. 9 trying to cancel. As I had already rented a truck for that day, I was not entertaining that idea. When Charles and his crew arrived AT 1:22 IN THE AFTERNOON, the crew consisted of Charles (who is a small man), a large strong man (thank goodness), and a woman. Not to be sexist (I am female), but she was not able to lift and carry any more than I did myself. I'd hired these people for 2 hours, with clear instructions that their job was to lift/carry/load heavy items that I could not do myself. That didn't happen. The job was not complete in 2 hours (they left for a time in the middle of things) and I was basically forced to pay for another hour (even though they stopped at 4:00 pm -- so I got only 30 extra minutes of labor - not an hour). My walls were "dinged" and I had to spackle and paint later that evening, nearly all the bedroom furniture is scratched (yes, I had furniture pads), they removed a wheel from my power washer, didn't tell me, and apparently kept the pin that secures the wheel, and in disconnecting the refrigerator icemaker water line to move the frig, they damaged that valve, so that water then leaked from the wall connection into the floor resulting in my spending several hours getting an emergency plumber to show up on a Saturday evening -- which cost me time and a half for the repair. In short, my experience was a complete nightmare. I had to return to Raleigh on Sunday and Monday to move my remaining items and clean up from the disaster that occurred on Saturday. I DO NOT RECOMMEND.

The low rating stems from being charged 5 hours when the crew finished in 2 hrs 45 minutes, as reported by Chad.
I suspect the small print addresses why it’s legal to take my hard earned money in exchange for absolutely nothing. The word “theft” comes to my mind. Enjoy your ill-earned and don’t choke on any olive pits.

These movers got everything loaded into my truck in the allotted amount of time, but they complained about my request for them to wear masks in the house, they complained about the size and weight of my 6' couch, and they complained a lot about the mid-August heat. They also seemed stressed and frustrated by the entire job (equivalent of a one-bedroom apartment, no stairs) which stressed me out. Generally do not recommend.
