Owner was great and called ahead of time to get briefed on what was needed as well as to inform me of what would be provided. The recommendation was two movers for two hours, dolly's included, to move a 2 BR apartment via freight elevator on the 6th floor into a pod.
On day of move, the first mover showed up with a dolly and waited for his partner. The second mover showed up about fifteen minutes later but did not have a dolly (he said it had been stolen). While the mover with the dolly went right to work and began moving furniture, it became immediately clear the second mover did not know what to do without a dolly and as time ticked away, little was done. Within the first 10 minutes he had moved two stools and I realized this job was not getting done in two hours. So despite hiring movers so I didn’t have to worry about it…I became the third mover. While carrying some furniture out, I came up behind the second mover and found him punching the edge of our table through the door to get it to fit. He’d later tell me (as we were carrying out a mattress together) that he hated moving.
While the first mover with the dolly worked swiftly and efficiently, I moved my way up the ranks on “my first day” as their new co worker to become second in command, providing instructions and guidance on how the other hired hand could be more efficient. Eventually the first mover caught on and started giving the other mover instructions. At that point, I had been moving furniture for an hour and a half and all the furniture was out of the apartment and ready to be placed in the pod, so I “put in my notice” and let them finish up.
Mover number one championed the move as well as the pod packing and was incredible at making sure the pod was securely and efficiently packed. He saved the day and I’m thankful he was there.

- They were very slow in unloading my storage building.
- They scratched the front of my chest. They didn't use the furniture blankets i rented from u-haul to prevent damage.
