We hired this company to load 8 feet onto the trailer we arranged to be delivered to us in Chicago. After working two hours, the 2 men refused to work anymore stating "they had another job after us" and would not work more than the two hours, even after they were advised the job may well take more than the two hours. I was left high and dry to load most of shipment by myself. Considering I have a heart condition I absolutely didn't want to be left all alone to load the remainder of the shipment, but that is exactly what happened.

TRAUMATIZING MOVE - READ IN ENTIRETY PRIOR TO HIRING...
LEAD GUY THREATENED, INTIMIDATED AND BULLIED ME.
The lead Guy stated he was hearing voices about 90 min into the move. He asked if anyone else heard the voices. At this point it seemed a little too late to cancel the move. I asked him his name 3 times he wouldn't tell me. He stated he was the owners son I believe he referenced Lashaun as his father. He was not watching the workers and they broke the base to my custom granite desk. When I mentioned it to the lead guy or Lashaun's son (Lashaun is one or the owners of S&L) he stated "you should have packed it into a crate like your other precious artwork". I told him, other movers had moved it in the past and if you were incapable of moving it, you should have told me. He stated he was not going to unload the truck. The day prior I spoke to Trent (another owner of the company) about unloading the truck 5.6 miles away, Trent stated no problem if you need another hour that is fine, this would be 6 hours. I told him to call his boss - which he did, upon hanging up he stated "you have 5 hours". At approximately 2 1/2 hours into the move he said see this area right here - he pointed to a few items - he said " this is it, we are not moving anything else". They still had to move my kayak, grill, area rugs and several other items. Lashaun's son stated I have things to do later, this is it or we will come back another day. I paid for 5 hours or $867.00. I still had 2 1/2 hours to go. I told him Trent said you could stay an additional hour if needed. "Lashaun's son said "I have plans and I am not staying any longer, I am done" So, he put the Henredon chairs in (unwrapped - no blankets), concrete planters and a few other items. I gave him ties to hold the stuff in place. When arriving at the storage unit - the concrete planters were crushed into about 17 pieces, the henredon chairs were thrown around and severely damaged - I still don't know what other damage has been done. I immediately called hire a helper - they stated not to release the money to tell them we will work it out when I file the claim. They finished at 4:15, it took about 25 minutes to unload. I told Lashaun's son I would not release the money until we dealt with the claim. He said "YOU WILL RELEASE THE MONEY" - I said I don't have to do anything, you caused extensive damage because you were in a hurry, you were careless and I will work this out after I file a claim. Hire a helper told me not to release the money. He stated "Hire a helper has nothing to do with this - and started walking closer to me and said "YOU WILL RELEASE THE MONEY". I called Hire a helper where I told them this is a perilous situation, I feel threatened, this is not safe - call the owner of S & L. In the meantime Lashaun's son says I am not waiting around here, I have things to do. I said I have more time it's not 5:00 yet - he said " I am not waiting around here doing nothing - YOU WILL RELEASE THE MONEY". The guy who I hired to help me oversee the move said " This is not worth your life, just pay it". This situation escalated to the point the threat was very clear - the man I hired also felt I was in danger. I asked Lashaun's son to call his boss - he said "who my dad". I said I'm calling your dad and walked away. I reached Trent (another owner) who basically said, we will make it right, he may be bullying other customers thanks for letting me know. Upon walking back to the truck, the fellow who I hired to help me said just pay this - it's not worth your life or something happening to you. Lashauns son began walking toward me - I said you need to back up right now - you are frightening me. I was basically threatened and intimidated into paying f
So, today when I contacted Trent about making it right - he said sorry - you signed a contract. Actually, NO I DIDN"T I called it in, Hire a Helper never sent me a contract, nor did the agent ask me if I wanted additional Insurance or if I agree with the terms.
HIRE A HELPER EVIDENTLY ALLOWS CUSTOMERS TO BE BULLIED INTIMIDATED AND THREATENED, THERE ARE NUMEROUS FEEDBACKS STATING SUCH ABOUT THIS COMANY - YET HIRE A HELPER CONTINUES BEING AN ADVOCATE FOR ABUSIVE BEHAVIOR TOWARD CUSTOMERS - WOMEN SPECIFICALLY. This company also goes by the name SUTTON and LASHLEY

Our favorite part is seeing customers looks of relief after we've assisted them and also knowing that our company assisted in minimizing some of the customers stress that comes along with moving

Our service providers and sub-contracted and most already have the needed skills to perform the job. I've heard that they stay updated by actual on the job experiences dealing with unexpected issues and how-to video guides available online
