I was in a whole other state and I needed my storage units transferred. I had a friend show up to manage the process for me, he made a few calls to me. On the face time calls I could see how well the work was being executed and how nicely packed everything was. Second to that, my friend who was managing the process kept ranting and raving about how professional the two gentlemen were. On multiple occasions they were proactive about address item damage concerns (not caused by them) and space concerns. They followed every detailed instruction to the T. They really went above and beyond. I highly recommend this service to anyone who is looking for great pricing and quality and responsible movers. Thanks Rigo's!!

Do not book this company , they take their sweet time and will add extra hours at the end because they took so long and then the manager calculated the hours wrong and proceeded to call me and ask me for more money , i had a 1 bedroom move and they charged me for 1.2k this company is a scam , don’t waste your time.

Mover's response:
Hello Jonathan, we are a moving company that has been in the industry for about 11 years and we can definitely say that our company does not work in that way where we scam our clients, as you can see from our previous history of reviews. Regarding the time, you did schedule your appointment with an arrival window between 1:00 P.M to 2:00 P.M which is around the time that traffic starts picking up. After our movers finished loading and headed out to the unloading address at the same time as you, it did take both of you to arrive at the unloading address in about 2 hours. When the movers arrived at the unloading address they did inform you that the unloading was going to take longer than the loading due to no parking space in front of the building which did cause a long walk, your apartment being on the fourth floor which meant that our movers had to wait for the elevator. Please be aware that all these factors cause time to add up. Regarding our manager calculating the time, that does not affect our movers performance in any way and there was a discount offered for the inconvenience.

Title: Professional, Polite Movers, Sketchy Business Practices

TLDR: They were four hours late, which caused numerous issues and delays. They charged us for an extra 30 minutes for the move taking ~15 minutes longer than booked caused by multiple delays as a direct result of their tardiness. They tried to get us to pay cash or use zelle directly via phone call with them at 10:15 PM at night instead of going through HireAHelper, but ultimately got HireAHelper to charge our credit card for additional fees without any confirmation or approval from us.

They called to notify us approximately 45 minutes before our arrival window (3:00-4:00 PM PST, arrival time had been confirmed x2-both two days prior and the day prior) that they were running late and anticipated arriving 3 hours later than scheduled. They tried to pressure us to reschedule for the next day. When I inquired about any guarantees regarding the timing and/or discounts that would be provided given their tardiness, I was assured they would make things right, but could not do anything specific until after the move.

Once we were notified they were not able to arrive on time, we tried to reach out to Hire-A-Helper, but they closed at 5 PM CST on the weekends and did not call us back until the following morning. The updated arrival window we received was for between 6:00-7:00 PM PST. The movers ended up pulling in at 7:15 PM that evening and appeared exhausted. We had coordinated with our old apartment building to have a elevator and loading dock reserved for our move, but given the late notice on a Sunday we were unable to move the reservation (I had reserved from 2 pm - 6 pm). Similarly, we had coordinated with our new building to arrive prior to the office closing to ensure a smooth move, but given the movers late arrival, we arrived at the building after hours and did not have access to the loading dock and closest elevator.

Despite these issues, with us helping to load/unload items in the truck, we finished unloading our items at approximately 10 PM (total time ~2 hours and 45 minutes). We had pre-paid for 2 hours of moving and 30 minutes of travel time. Rigos called us at 10:15 (after the movers had left) and said that we owed them $150 for an extra hour of labor saying we had only paid for 2 hours, and it took 3. They requested that we pay the movers in cash (not an option as they were long gone) or to pay by Zelle via text message immediately (both options being against Hire-A-Helper's policies). I asked for some compensation/discount for them being so late. He stated that he could give me a $75 discount for them being late if I paid $75 for the extra hour. I then pushed back insisting that we had already paid for 2.5 hours total such that at most we were only ~15 minutes over our prepaid time. They ultimately checked our agreement and noted that we had in fact already paid for 2.5 hours, but still insisted we owed them for additional labor. Since he was only going to charge me for 1/2 hour of extra time, he stated now he could only provide a $50 discount such that I would still owe $25. I was not comfortable paying additional fees on the spot via cash or Zelle based on a phone call at 10:15 PM at night without a written invoice. I was particularly uncomfortable because the movers had not mentioned anything about additional fees before leaving, the price/discounts kept changing, no invoice was being offered/provided, and the only mechanism offered to pay was via Zelle transfer via text message. I told them if they felt like additional fees were owed, they could reach out the next day or send me an invoice.

The next morning HireAHelper called to confirm the move was completed and approve distribution of the pre-paid fee. I explained the situation, and they were unaware and surprised at the late arrival stating all movers are expected to arrive as scheduled. While on the phone with Hire-A-Helper, they asked me to confirm the pre-paid amount for 2.5 hours of work should be distributed, but did not indicate the mover had requested additional payment or had any concerns about the total time being charged. Further, the Hire-A-Helper staff asked if I wanted to request a discount given their tardiness, but I declined being appreciative that we were able to get moved and believing the issue was resolved. However, the next day an additional fee was charged to my credit card without warning or confirmation any additional work was completed.

I do feel for the two movers that arrived. They were professional, polite, and protected our furniture well. However, they indicated multiple times how tired and hungry they were throughout the move (likely not their fault as there clearly was an issue with the work that was scheduled for earlier in the day), which caused them to be late. I am quite disappointed Rigo's sent two fatigued men to help us move that had already worked an entire day, that they were 4 hours late, then charged us extra.

Mover's response:
Hello Beth, thank you for taking your time to give us a review. We are saddened to hear that your move did not turn out as planned. It is very rare to have days where things do not go according to schedule and unfortunately your move did not turn out as planned. As you recognized and mentioned that our movers were professional, polite, and protected your furniture well. That is because we make sure to train our movers to meet these expectations which is why we have received many good reviews. Unfortunately our movers were late due to the customer before your job not being ready and having to go out and pick up her rental truck at the last minute which made our movers have to wait for about 2 hours. Once they arrived at the unloading address, another inconvenience occurred. Our movers had to wait for the client to receive their keys which took an additional 2 hours. These inconveniences are very uncommon to occur but unfortunately these things do happen and when booking with our company we do not leave in the middle of a move, we make sure to assist our clients until the move is fully completed. Unfortunately, all of this did take place on a Sunday which is when our office is closed but Mon-Sat is when we do have our normal operation hours so the probability of this to occur on a weekday is very minimal. We as a company appreciate your concern for our movers but we can guarantee you that they receive their breaks and are allowed to ask for back up if they feel restless.
