I had a 1-bedroom apartment to pack up, which I had fully packed when they arrived. I also had essentially only a single room left, because I packed and moved the majority of my clothing, books, dishes, misc. trinkets, etc. myself over the course of the previous couple of weeks. On top of that, I had 3 pieces of furniture that didn't even need to be loaded onto the truck: sofa, coffee table, and dresser all just needed to be brought to the curb, as I had already replaced them with new items that were delivered directly to my new place before the move.
I specifically scheduled them for a 9am start, because I was trying to be done by 2:30pm, at the latest. I didn't think this would be an issue, because of how much work I put in ahead of time to ensure only the handful of things I was unable to move myself would be left for the movers. The manager at JFK called me the day before to notify me that they had overbooked, and asked if he could push the start time to 11am. He made it sound like he was doing me a courtesy by letting me know ahead of time, instead of just having his guys show up late. I explained I really needed them to start as agreed, but we ended up "compromising" on a 10am start. The movers ended up calling me the day of to say they were able to get there "early", and arrived at 9:45am. I had all remaining boxes packed and moved into my living room when they arrived. I did have an IKEA dining room table, a Peloton Bike, and a bed frame they had to disassemble. But, the bed frame was a pretty basic Queen size frame (small head/ foot board and light side frames), which I had put together myself without any trouble, so I assumed disassembly should also be equally simple and quick.
It took them almost 4 hours to load the truck. I politely asked if they were reasonably going to be able to finish in the 5.5 hours alotted, and they said it wouldn't be a problem, and that actually they were "ahead of schedule" so they were going to take a lunch break. It was a hot day, and I didn't want to ask them not to eat, but it was frustrating that we hadn't even left my old place yet, and now they were going to delay further.
They finally met me at my new place after their lunch (about 45 minutes) and started unpacking. I ended up helping them unload and carry things into my new place myself, because I was trying to speed things along. Despite all of that, I still had to pay out of pocket for an additional hour of labor, because they went over their estimated time.
It is what it is, but I wouldn't recommend this moving company. Overall their movers were friendly, but the service itself was pretty disappointing, and took way longer than it should have. Like I outlined, I only had to move a one-bedroom apartment, most of which I had already moved myself in the weeks prior.
