I had promised this company I would not put a complaint in, but after taking a week to dwell on it, I feel I need to for others looking for a worryfree move. We needed movers on short notice and HireAHelper is a great website to go to. When my first mover selection didn't call me back, HireAHelper called me before I was able to call them with my concern. They had a backup for me, but they couldn't help me put my motorcycle in my truck. GR8LABOR was my 3rd option that I went with. They were very nice on the phone when I called them to confirm and they were able to help with my motorcycle. They did suggest a 3rd person to hire instead of my intended 2, but did not mention any other fees than that. The day of the move, they showed up on time. We live on the 3rd floor, so my husband and I took about 90% of our items down to the garage the week prior, so GR8LABOR just had heavy items to move, like my washer/dryer, large bed, dresser, TV's, Coffee Tables, and various little things. They complained about the work they had to do and stood around for 20 minutes just talking. They had told my husband that our truck was too small and would not fit everything and that was their "professional opinion". I was at work when my husband called me, causing me have to leave work early to see what the issue was. When I got home (an hour after they began) the truck had very little in it and one worker (Michael) was just standing around. When I went into the apartment, the men were dragging my expensive WHITE bed on the floor outside and complaining about moving the bed to my husband and said he needed to have a discussion with his wife about this. He didn't know I was right behind him, so he was shocked when I said "what about his wife?". The two men moving the bed did alright and I know the guy complaining about the bed was a bit of a jokster, and a spunky guy, which I enjoy in people. The tall skinny guy was quiet and worked the whole time I saw him. But very little did I see Michael working. I saw him leaning on the U-Haul most of the time chatting with the other 2 movers. Michael, I believe, was the guy I spoke to over the phone about needing 3 movers. Michael also tried to charge us an extra $125 to put our treadmill on the U-Haul. He said it was because it's a "large item" and that he didn't charge me for my motorcycle as a curtesy. The treadmill was already in the garage, so it didnt have stairs to go down, so I told him forget. An hour and a half later, we still had very little items in the truck. I didn't want to pay more than the 2 hours because I was already annoyed with their work, I told them to just get the washer/dryer in and help me with my motorcycle and my husband and I would load the rest. Michael told me my bike would break the tailgate of my pickup truck and did not recommend I do that and that was his "professional opinion", but I told him I had faith in my truck. The movers did a great job at getting my bike in my truck. I was really stressed about my bike dropping, but the guys did great, even Michael. While I was trying to get my bike all strapped in, Michael was forcing me to text HireAHelper to confirm payment and making me pay and extra $60 for stairs. He couldn't wait for me to get my bike strapped in, so I had to do both at the same time to get him away. 45 minutes later, my husband and I had everything else in our truck. We did have to make 2 moves (to Tennessee and back to Ohio for a few other things), but I truly believe we could have made it in one move. I have moved many times in my life and I have seen real professionals fit more in smaller trucks. But my husband and I are not professionals, so we did the best we could. The movers in Tennessee had our truck unloaded in an hour. All of this is not why I am complaining. I would have let this go; however, upon reviewing my drawers to my dresser, I noticed 2 big holes. Michael had left a stack of signed contracts in the U-Haul and wanted them back from us. When he called me, I told him my displessure with him and told him about my dresser drawers. He told me we can file a claim with hire a helper about the drawers (which I did today, so I don't yet know the outcome. If the outcome is bad, I will have to take it up with BBB unfortuneately, but I hopefully will avoid that). I told him I was not happy with my service and the little work they did in 2 hours and the fact that they nickel and dimed me with the stairs and trying to charge me $125 for the treadmill because it was a heavy item. He was not sorry and argued his side. I told him that I would complain to HireAHelper and the BBB about my service then and when he is ready to listen and validate my complaint, I would be happy to send him his contract for a charge of $125 because it was extra work for me. I told him when he was ready to discuss the issue, he could call me back. He called back in less then a minute to apologize and try and make things right. I told him I wanted a full refund and he said that wasn't possible. So I told him that since I could file a claim for the dresser drawers, I would just want $100 back for the stairs he charged me and the extra laborer than I don't feel I got. I was ok with not getting a full refund. These men did move the heavy items (not well, but they did) and they got my bike safely on the truck. That is what I wanted. I expected more effort from them, but I could not have got my bike on the truck myself. So Michael and a nice lady from GR8LABOR came to pick up the contract and paid me a $100 money order. I told them I would not complain, but that was when I thought they accidently damaged my drawers in the U-Haul. Come to find out, Michael told me that they were trying to move things along and thought it would be a great idea to drop my items from the 3rd floor and have someone catch them on the 1st. What kind of professional does that!? And by the way, my husband and I got the treadmill in the U-Haul just fine at no extra cost.

Mover's response:
GR8LABOR assures that everything this customer said is a way too defame our name this customer wanted something for nothing and when we didn't comply the lies spilled. They paid for 2 guys and three worked and bust there humps to get the job done. They told gr8labor they had 6 items on the 3rd floor and the rest would be in the garage when we arrived to the move there was a 10 minute walk to the truck and three flights of stairs. When we told her the fees for the extra stairs and she was mad.

There was a little misunderstanding about needing a dolly to move my washer and dryer. The manager was over as soon as possible to correct this issue. My greatest disappointment, was not with the crew, but with the HIre a Helper automated system. It would not make any adjustments in the full fee of $371.00 for 2 men for 3 hours, when only 2.5 hours were spent at my residence. Unfortunately, I am going to need someone out again, due to the washer could be not moved on Friday, 7/24. The apartment complex needed to fix a faulty valve in order to separate the washer from the connection. Hence, will I receive a pro-rated rate based upon the time I have paid for, yet not used? Yes, I would use Gr8labor again if they are available.

They were a little late but I know they had a job ahead of ours. Window was 3-4 p.m. and they arrived at 5 p.m.

They worked very hard and really never stopped until I made them stop and get some water and rest.

They were very respectful our property and goods as well as to us.

I would definitely use them again.
