We hired Plz Move Me to pack our Pod for our long distance move from Michigan to Maine. I was encouraged by the reviews seen on the HireaHelper website, and thought they would be a great fit to pack our large Pod. However, this was an awful experienced as outlined in my bullets below, and ended up costing us an additional $2,000 in our moving budget.
• Movers from Plz Move Me scheduled to arrive between 9-10, received call right before 9 that team would not be arriving until 1pm. (a team member was in the hospital, so we certainly understand things happen, and adjusted to the new time)
• Two movers, Cam and Vaughn(sp?) arrived around 1:10pm, not in uniform and with no moving supplies (both uniformed employees and moving supplies like dollies/straps are indicated as included on the movers' Hire a Helper website.)
• We showed the two what needed to be moved, and they were confident all of our things would fit in our Large Pod, and said they were seasoned with packing Pods
• They soon seemed inexperienced in moving large furniture. they could not move a bureau down the stairs (it entered into the home assembled) so it had to be left (loss of $500), and had a lot of trouble with our large couch (moving these two pieces of items took up about an hour of our 3 hour time). Trying to move the bureau also damaged the wall and ceiling of the home we were renting so we are concerned about a security deposit.
• When the movers were having trouble with the couch, (they were knocking into a chandelier), and my husband had to tell them to stop and regroup. Shortly after I received a call from Preshous, the manager, and I conveyed my concerns with how the process was going, and the amount of time we had left. At that point she shared she would provide 25% off the cost of our move, but when I spoke to Hire a Helper that afternoon, she only provided a $60 credit.
• My largest complaint is that the the movers did not pack the Pod as efficiently as I had seen in a few of the Pod packing videos I had watched. They left about 3 feet from the ceiling open, there was open spaces not used throughout the Pod, and although we provided bungees and straps, none were used during the packing process.
• Throughout the afternoon, we kept being reassured everything would fit, until finally we started being asked "what has to go?"
• In addition, heavy storage bins were loaded on top of our pillow top couch, as opposed to standing the couch upright in the Pod. This has me concerned about what our belongings will look like when our Pod is delivered to our home early next week.
• Since we were moving halfway across the country, because of the inefficient and poor packing of this company, we had to order another small Pod for the cost of $1600 (fortunately Pods was willing to give us a discount for our troubles, otherwise it would have been over $2,000), however the Pod could not arrive until Monday afternoon.
• Because of this, we had to stay in Michigan two additional days, needing two additional hotel room stays at the cost of $150ish a night, and each take an additional days off from work. (1 PTO days each valued at $465 and $635).
• I am also concerned since we only have a 10- day window to report damage, which is not a lot of time when the Pod takes about a week to arrive when moving long distance.
Moving is stressful and expensive, and we thought we had hired movers who were going to help alleviate our stress, but they simply added to it both the stress, and added about $2,000 to our moving budget expense.
I would not recommend this company to anyone.
I understand the frustration of dealing with delays, unexpected issues, and additional costs. Your concerns about the efficiency of the packing and the handling of your belongings are valid, and I appreciate you bringing these to our attention.

I had to keep rescheduling because of the delivery time of my POD and Precious (the receptionist in the office) was so patient and accommodating and the gentleman that called each time to confirm the change in time was also so helpful. I would definitely use them again. The workers were on time and placed everything just where I wanted it.
