I don't know where to begin. I wish I could just post pictures. Trust me, pictures are definitely worth a thousand words. After walking the entire team through every area of my home and garage so they knew precisely what had to be moved we headed upstairs. We used my tools to breakdown my bed because they had none. They damaged my walls, my wood floors, banister as well as the door trim and wooden stairs.
95% of my furniture was already wrapped in moving blankets and then shrink wrapped. Most of my move was containers and boxes because I had sold a lot of furniture prior to the move. I am a container Queen so I keep things organized and stackable for the most part. My fragile things were clearly marked. We provided a huge container of moving blankets for them to utilize and they were aware and reminded on numerous occasions(My leather couch went tight against the wall with no protection whatsoever). We provided E-track straps to secure the load and my husband even set the first one and instructed them that we were traveling through the mountains so we preferred that they used too many than not enough (They used one).
They put clearly marked fragile boxes at the bottom and proceeded to place a 45 gallon aluminum garbage can from the garage loaded with items on top of it and more items on top of that. The fragile on the bottom, heavy on the top is repeated frequently as is clearly marked "this side up" boxes being placed upside-down. It was obvious that all my stuff was not going to fit on this poorly loaded and unsafe to transport trailer. They loaded past the last set of e-tracks anyway so it was impossible to install the bulkhead and loading ramp.
My husband and I both have a transportation background. Putting a driver behind the wheel hauling the trailer would have been extremely dangerous and negligent. Our personal property was secondary.
Our only solution has cost us thousands!! We have had to have another trailer delivered. We have had to have another group of movers come out and unload the trailer completely. Reconfigure the load and safely load our items in the proper way with e-track straps and the provided moving blankets. This process has delayed the new owners from moving in, costing us even more money.
Our complaint with Hire a Helper was initiated in the middle of this chaos and has now escalated to the senior level. Be warned! No assistance is available until you pay the bill. Thank God Visa doesn't see it that way.
You are dealing with brokers that refer you to a service. Then, you are on your own and they take a fee for the referral.
After reviewing your concerns, I must clarify several points to ensure transparency. From the outset, our communication was thorough and consistent. I personally spoke with you daily leading up to your move, spending over 45 minutes on the phone as you described the details of your home and the items to be moved. During this conversation, you mentioned that most of your furniture was sold, leaving primarily boxes and containers to be transported. You also indicated that everything was wrapped and padded by yourself, which should have minimized the risk of any damage.
It is our policy to require either pictures or a detailed description of items to be moved, as this helps us prepare adequately. You expressed frustration with this requirement, which is in place to ensure the smoothest possible move. Despite your initial concerns, we proceeded according to your instructions, and even added an additional hour at your request to complete the job.
Regarding your claims of damage, it is important to note that no issues were raised during or immediately after the move, either with our team or through Hire a Helper. In fact, you extended the service time, which typically indicates satisfaction with the service provided. Additionally, you thanked the team at the end of the move.
We are committed to providing a high standard of service, and it is disheartening to hear that you feel your expectations were not met. However, the allegations made do not align with the detailed preparations, precautions, and communications that took place during your move. We stand by the professionalism and dedication of our team, who worked diligently to fulfill your needs.
