Old Dominion Freight Line® Reviews
The service from begining to end was exceptional. The driver waited patiently as the truck was reloaded even though it took twice as long as expected. They were very curteous and professional and timely. The truck was also very nice with added features like straps and adjustable beams. Saved us a ton of money and very convenient.
Been very helpful with our move. Only complaint is that when they estimate area needed on truck they don’t include anything in garage or patio, so we ran out of space and had to order a second truck, with extra cost. They should tell you before you book that those areas of the house are not included. We used 13 more feet of trailer space than they estimated. Over all happy with the service and would use them again.
Using a 28 foot trailer from Old Dominion worked out beautifully. They were wonderful with booking, drop off and pick up. We chose them on the recommendation of our movers. In their trailers you have the capability of building a shelf with plywood that gives you more room and enables things to be packed more tightly. I would definitely recommend them.
Super great people to work with - the gentleman who brought the trailers was fabulous and a wealth of information. I will definitely use them again. They make everything so easy and are willing to work with you. The people I originally spoke to did not estimate properly and I had to get a second trailer - but it was delivered the next day - so that helped immensely.
Packers made sure everything was well secured. OD drove the trailer cross country and it arrived early. I had to make changes the day the trailer was delivered and they were more than accommodating. Only issue I had was on the pick-up end. It was a rainy day and I had to insist that the trailer be sectioned while I was present. There were no markings on the floor showing feet used as advertised. I was told pictures would be taken before the trailer left to show amount of space used but the manager did not want to do it while I was present. I was billed but had not received pictures. I called the central office and they promised to get me the pictures before I released payment. I received the pictures about five days later after the truck reached its destination. By contract I had to pay within 48 hours of the freight leaving for destination, but the central office differed this portion of the contract until I received the pictures. I found them easy to work with - both the central office and the destination center. Very impressed.
OD was great. We did a live load in Brooklyn and our stuff made it to Seattle faster than we could have expected. We were still driving through the Midwest when it made it to the west coast. They were very accommodating and dropped off our trailer when we arrived almost a week later. I would recommend them for a cross country move. And they were affordable.
I booked my transportation through UPack because a friend recommended them. Their local link was Old Dominion for service in my area. There was little communication from them & I had to call them to find out approximately when my trailer would arrive. They gave me a window of time to expect it. I hired helpers according to the time given. When we still had no trailer at the end of the expected window of time, I called the dispatcher. I was told that a driver had been ill & that another driver had just been dispatched. That meant a 4hr. delay & I had helpers on payroll who had no vehicle to load. I had received no call to inform me of the delay. After a certain hour, there wasn't anyone to answer my further calls regarding where this driver was or a way to contact the driver. I would not recommend that company.
Old Dominion was excellent to work with. I requested 2 trailers to be delivered to my house in the country for a cross-country move. The driver was prompt on Wednesday and placed the trailers where I needed them. On Monday, the driver returned and picked up the trailers. It turned out we only needed one and I called to see if we could get the trailer from Iowa to NC by the end of the week. They were able to deliver the trailer on Friday so that I could unload it before starting work on Monday. The only downside was the trailer had to sit in my apartment's lot for over 6 hours after I called to request pickup which did not make my landlord too happy
Getting moving permits and managing the space in Boston was difficult. Dealing with Old Dominion was easy. We thought our loading movers did a good job wrapping and packing our goods in the trailer, but several items of furniture received minor damage in transit. There must have been quite a lot of moving and shaking going on in that truck.
The people who delivered and picked up the trailer were very professional . I don't know who did the driving but everything made it. Our only problem we had was about information regarding the ramp for the trailer. When the trailer arrived at destination we didn't have a ramp. They did hurry one out after we called to let them know. Yes we would do this again. It worked very well and the cost was affordable.
The truck company did well in getting the trailer dropped and picked up to get the contents on their way to Tenn. Waiting for it to get there as it just left yesterday. I will be able to track its progress down to Tenn. so that I can plan my trip to follow. Kinda frustrating not knowing exactly what day it would arrive. But they will hold the trailer and drop it hopefully the day that was quoted to me. As long as you are able to do alot of the packing yourself this is by far a cheaper way to move without having to drive the truck yourself.
