PODS® Reviews
We had friendly and professional drivers who delivered the POD at both ends of the move when they said they would. The placement of the container was exactly as we requested. We've used PODS before for an interstate move and that's why we used them again for our local move. If we move again, we'll definitely use them once again. You can't beat the cost and dependability.
Delivered the pod 3 days later than expected, and were unable to provide reliable updates on status. They assured us they would pay for expenses caused by the delay, including cancellation costs for movers. However, after sending requested receipts in, we have not heard back from them about when we can expect a resolution. Overall, this is a company that I have very low confidence in based on our experience.
The Pod was dropped off in front of our driveway. I was disappointed that they could not get it to fit in the driveway itself, but the guy did call and explain the situation, and physical limitations are physical limitations, so I can't fault them for that. Admittedly, this review is being written before the Pod is delivered to it's final location. Hopefully everything arrives in decent shape.
Please provide your driver with the details that I provided on the PODS website of where to place the container. That was not provided to the driver and he had to take extra time and energy to change how the POD was loaded on his equipment in order to get it in the proper placement. This would have saved him time and aggravation. He, himself, was great and we are very impressed with how the POD system works. Thank you.
The whole experience with Pods.com was a complete clown show. The company is fine if you have a lot of time and flexibility in your schedule to pack, load, and unload at a leisurely pace over the course of multiple weeks. They don't seem to understand the need to adhere to a schedule, take off time from work, schedule helpers to load/unload, or just get on with your life. To them, a schedule that they have committed to, truthful proactive communication with customers, and following up on their commitments are things that they are either unwilling or unable to deliver upon. They missed the delivery date at the destination by 3 days. On the original delivery date, multiple people were still promising on-time delivery even though they admittedly had no idea where the pod was and were unable to get in touch with the driver. We were repeatedly promised calls and updates from the customer service rep, the service supervisor, the truck driver, and a resolution specialist. None of these happened until we called the service back and insisted on not getting brushed off by staying on the line until we got questions answered. Without this insistence, the answer continually was, "just wait by the phone and you'll get a call in another hour or two," even though we'd been waiting all day. Even at the origin point, we were promised by multiple people that the moving blankets that we had been charged for would be delivered with the pod and then subsequently in a separate delivery. We made numerous calls trying to track down these blankets so that we could get everything packed up, and finally ended up driving to a Pods facility ourselves to pick up the blankets. Despite this, we weren't even given the number of blankets that we paid for. The one positive note was a single person at the Pods facility whom we believe was a rank-and-file driver or similar role. He took time away from his primary job to help us out with the blankets because no one else was around, even though it obviously wasn't his responsibility. He saw how frustrated we were with the situation and went out of his way to make things right. Many thanks again to that person.
Not very communicative regarding any debit account withdrawals. Only after they cancelled an initial order did they share that a "large charge" might be refused by the bank. Should have been much clearer about the situation - all we got was an email from Nestor saying the order would be cancelled. A phone call straightened it out (I thought) and it cancelled anyway.
Pod pickup and dropoff was al fine. The problem is that they severly underestimated the size of our POD based on our sq footage/bedrooms. We have a 2 bed/2 bath, aprox 1000 sq ft and the Med size pod did not fit all of our stuff. I had originally selected a large pod but changed it based on their estimations. I wish I had not done that.
I don't know that I would use the pods system again. It was OK but its just as difficult as moving every other way and I probably spent more money using movers because I had to have them come multiple times. Its deceptive how much it ends up costing because they charge a little here and a little there.
