This was the worst experience I have ever had with a moving company. They showed no respect for me or my property, and exhibited complete incompetence with regards to moving furniture and packing a container.

The person who appeared to be the lead of the two-man moving crew I was sent, smoked weed, appeared unfocused (stoned) and was non-chalant and careless with my furniture and belongings. On several occassions he dropped my furniture, continuously scratched and dented all my antique furniture, and ruined several of my paintings.

The movers turned my dining room furniture upside down and dragged them on the asphalt outside.I had given them blankets to cover each piece with, but they did not use them until I insisted, and even then they ignored my request to cover my furniture. On one occasion, one of my finest dining room pieces came sliding down and off the ramp from the truck, shattering the top of the furniture. The stoned one screamed at the other worker and then just took the broken pieces and threw them away. It was very upsetting. No apology, just a "that’s too bad".

Insisting on doing things his way, ignoring and rudely belitelling me, the lead worker packed the crate so poorly that I had to intervrne and do most of the job myself. He left lots of gaps sub-optimized the space so badly that I wanted to cry as he and the other worker crammed things in and continued to brake my lamps my dining room furniture, bedroom futniture and gine china, which he tossed to me when I pointed out the danger in his placement snd had to remind him that when the crate moves things will dhift around.

I am sitting here crying, completely exhausted from having to do the work while they just stood around and mocked and humiliated me. They stepped on my clothes that had fallen out when the box broke open in one of the many falls from stacking them on their trollies rather than carry them.

Instead of driving their own car the 5 miles from my home to the storage, as I was told they would, they rode with me in my UHaul - in which the lead worker smoked weed and got visibly out of it. He cursed and insisted on filling my container in the strangest way and then called me argumentative when I suggested changes so that my belongings would not get damaged and it eould all fit. Now I am left with a bunch of furniture and belongings that I don’t know what to do with, thst otherwise would have fit, wre it not for the actions and insistance of the obviously drug induced worker CanMove sent me.

I was heading out of town tomorrow, but now I have to rent a new storage unit snd pay for a new moving company to undo the ridiculous packing the stoned CanMove workers did. And I have to find someone who can see if it is possible to repair the damages they caused to my furniture. Two expensive floor lamps are completely ruined. One of which was just tossed back into my UHaul when the ‘mover under the influence’ worker had had enough and decided to call it a day.

What do I do in this situation?

So much damage, humiliation, disrespect, and extra work and expenses. And now I have to stay in LA to take care of this mess instead of travelling to Colorado to spend Easter with my daughter.

Based on my experience, this company should not be in business. I paid $635 to watch my property get destroyed and crammed into a crate that needs to be redone to avoid further damage in transport. Not to mention all the demeaning, sexist, disrespect that I had to endure while in agony over seing heirlooms and precious art being destroyed, and my daughter’s baby clothes scattered on the pavement and stepped on by someone who clearly didn’t care.
Horrible experience!

However, they used their bodies alot they need have the proper tools to work smarter. They were nice gentleman but we spent alot of time trying to figure things out. No ramp for the uhaul truck but honestly they made it work, but we lost alot of time because they didn't have the rt equipment to work easier.

But otherwise they did their best

I'll start by saying that Hire A Helper made things right. However, we regret choosing Canmove to unpack the 16' container.

We reserved a 3-man Canmove crew for 2 hours ($431). We requested a hand cart for 3 heavy metal items that were specifically itemized on the order and listed as weighing 300-400 pounds a piece.

The arrival window was 8am-9am. One man arrived on time and informed us that one worker had a flat tire and the third worker was sick. The solo worker did not have a hand cart, as requested.

Working with Hire A Helper, we agree to start the clock once a full 3-man crew was on-site with a handcart. The eventual start time was 10:30 am, which I pointed out to the lead-worker.

The next 2.5 hours were tense and difficult. They didn't communicate well among themselves which was evident with the lack of coordinated efforts.

The job was complete in 2 hours and 20 minutes. My husband and I went ahead and rounded up to 2 hours and 30 minutes. We also tipped them. We were surprised to learn that the lead-worker lied saying they worked for 3 hours. We were also going to be charged for the handcart which was not disclosed in advance.

As mentioned, Hire A Helper made things right. We were not charged for the handcart and the discrepancy was resolved in our favor.

We would NOT recommend Canmove, nor would we use them again.
