I contacted Hire-a-helper who subsequently hired Allstar movers to help load and to help unload a 16 foot truck. Allstar Movers were not on time, missing their window by many hours (they asked if they could delay an hour or so to avoid storms. I agreed. The storms were done in 15 minutes. The movers showed up after 4 hours).
Written in the contract, they were supposed to bring a dolly and moving straps. They had neither, forcing them to hand carry heavy furniture, and resulting in wall damage. They asked why I didn't supply the items.
They did work hard, but inefficient to a point that is almost unbelievable.
Respectful? They argued with each other in front of me. They didn't know how to take heavy items down the stairs nor around corners. They refused to load the way I suggested. Instead, they spent hours rearranging the truck, over and over again. A three hour loading job took six hours, which I had to pay for. During the unpack, an Allstar team member opened the truck and laughed and said, who packed this? Only to find that his teammate did. Resultant unpacking caused irreparable damage to my furniture. We're not talking about bumping damage, but rather about sliding and tearing damage. I heard over and over again about how I had too few moving blankets. My lack of blankets caused all the damage. I supplied 19 blankets, more than what was requested. Their technique caused the damage.
My summary: these guys from Allstar Movers were rank amateurs who likely never did any moving previously. I am still upset and would suggest you stay away.
