PODS® Reviews
They were a day late getting there. They forgot my lock that I purchased through them, which meant a loss of day loading. They provided one the next day. After that they did what they were supposed to do. The drivers were awesome and were able to put the containers in places that the sales told me couldn't be done. Drivers were great, Sales were terrible.
The customer service was good but my first call to them was an informational call before I knew if i was moving and I was pressured to set a date and got spammed by packers. When doing a long distance move you only have the option of a 7 ft pod and a 16 ft pod when the 12 foot pod offered only for local moves would have been perfect. I had to go with the 16 ft which was much to big and they did not have enough hooks set up in there for a load that did not fill the pod.
At first I was disappointed with the condition with my PODS unit. It looked rickety and I thought the roof looked like it could leak in a downpour. I did call them and they assured me it was how they were all built. It smelled like cat urine inside, but I pushed through that because it was crunch time with my move. I just hope all my stuff arrives in MN from Seattle dry and doesn't smell. But the gentlemen who dropped it off and picked it up were very, very courteous and nice.
Excellent work by the PODs group. Showed up in the 3 hour window they designated and the driver was professional and courteous. Got the POD in position as we needed and picked it up as they stated. This the second or third time I have used PODs so they were a no-brainer for this move. I had great customer service from the initial assessment to the delivery of the POD to our pickup point. The container was the right size and ready for loading when it arrived. I have not had the container delivered yet but anticipate that will go well also. I appreciate the email updates to let me know the time window of POD arrival and pick up. I await their delivery and pick up from final location and will provide additional comments then.
The Pod was there on the day we designated, and it was removed the day we asked. The only hassle was that we had to wait an extra week for them to deliver it because they needed to move the Pod from NJ storage to PA storage before they could deliver it. That caused some scheduling conflicts with my job (since I had expected to move in the week before I started my new job, but wasn't able to since the Pod wasn't available), and my parents had to re-arrange their schedules to make sure they were available that day. The company also couldn't tell us a delivery time until the evening before it was supposed to be delivered, so that was stressful, since we didn't know until the night before when the Pod was going to be there in the morning. In the end, it got there and was picked up, so it was okay.
I was happy with PODS overall, but was disappointed at the end when I was told over the phone with customer service that delivery could be made to the loading bay of my apartment complex. Specifiied in my order was a need for forklift as the 14" clearance of the building is one foot too small for a PODS truck. Everything seemed to be going fine then the driver arrived and said "PODS doesn't have forklifts". Competitors do. And the customer service people told me this could be accomplished. In the end, it cost me about $380 in extra charges to move everything out of the pod into a rented UHaul, then make a second unload into my apartment complex. I would suggest looking at PODS' competition if you are going to be moving into an apartment or condo complex as they DO NOT use forklifts and misinformed this customer at significant expense.
I have used PODS to store my items for three years while working overseas. I have also used them to transport my household goods between states. Every time I have used them they have demonstrated great customer service, were always within there scheduled time, and my items were never damaged in transit.
PODS didn't pick up the container, when scheduled, even though they were advised that the apt. complex didn't allow overnight containers and the container needed to be removed while residents were at work (9:00-5:00). 2 days later, the Container is still there, because they keep trying to pick it up after hours, when the lot is filled with cars.
PODS has been great from start to finish. My coordinator Kristi has been spot on in helping me and listening to my needs, returning calls and emails in a timely manner. David, a driver in Atlanta, was the best in giving friendly service that exceeded and professional. Bill in Pittsburgh navigated our narrow driveway with precision and gave us lots of tips to events and fun times in PGH. Fantastic people to work with!
