ABF Relocube® Reviews
The container was dropped off in a timely fashion. I was told by both the central dispatcher and the driver that I should call for pick up as soon as I knew when I'd be done and that pickup would be the same day. When I did this, the local dispatcher insisted that he needed 24 hours notice so that pickup would be the following day. I had specifically hired movers to load the container the day after drop off so that my belongings would not be on the street overnight. Had I been informed correctly, this would have worked out. As it was, my loaded container spent the night on the street, but luckily nothing was stolen. The interior walls only attach every 2 feet, not every foot, but I was only charged for one of the two feet, which was good. What was NOT GOOD was that there are no straps in the truck to secure items. My shipment arrived looking like it had been through a blender. Be aware: you need an extra long lock to lock these containers which will be cut off by the shippers to load other transport into the container. Throw away lock. Drop off and pick up went smoothly. The driver made an extra effort to line the container up conveniently.
The whole UPack experience was disappointing and not worth the money saved vs using PODS. The freight companies in Santa Maria, CA and Denver (ABF) did their best but I made over 15 phone calls to ensure everything was happening as promised. Seems UPack has trailers sitting with them and what starts out as one thing ends differently. It began in California with a huge trailer arriving instead of a pod, then it sits for 7 days. Then it took 10 days to get to CO because of 2 weekends but because it sat for 7 days in CA even though we were done in 2. Then in CO the big, high trailer pulled by a semi arrives without a ramp! Luckily the 2 Gentlehands movers we hired were amazing! When the price seems to good to be true it usually is, lesson learned the hard way...
I had some bad information when getting quotes- the woman I had spoken to recommended waiting to place my reservation so it would be cheaper. It ended up costing us more than anticipated. Otherwise, it was a hassle-free experience. Some of the folks that I spoke with related to freight were kind of cranky, but the guy who dropped off the cube was super nice. Much cheaper than any other moving service we checked on, cube was as advertised.
ABF Pack Relocube worked perfectly for the size and distance of my move. The cube was clean and ready to pack when it arrived. At all locations of the move they arrived on time and the employees performed there jobs professionally, safely, and quickly. My property arrived safely without damage. I would definitely use ABF again.
At first I was not happy with the customer service as someone initially cancelled my reservation and hung up on me, however, when I called the corporate office I was received by a very nice gentlemen named, I wish I could remember his name, anywho, he sorted out my issue and helped me get my POD, he was AWESOMUS! I would recommend this company as some staff takes a moment to sort out an issue and accommodate its customer. Thank you UPACK!
They were great. ABF Upack have been professional all the way, if I ever have the misfortune to move, I would use them again. We also used PODS. which has been less than awful. Our things from them still haven't arrived, due to a 'system error" on their part. Not my favorite company to say the least.
UPack was so easy to coordinate times, dates, and pricing. Everyone from customer service, dispatch, and the driver who dropped the trailer and picked up made the whole experience pleasant and less stressful. I chose this company because the service agent listened to my needs and responded quickly with coordinating efforts with dispatch. I would highly recommend ABF UPack!!!
I was relieved to find out that I could order a trailer packet myself have them hold it for me for a month and then deliver it to the front of my new hall. So if fission I didn’t have to do any of the driving. The local office in Tucson was so accommodating they drop the trailer off on a Friday and picked it up probably on Monday.
ABF provided excellent and prompt customer service. They're a freight company so they provide trailers and containers (called "Relocubes") that they transport along with commercial cargo. You'll only have 3 days to pack, which keeps costs down. Their customer care folks were knowledgeable and helpful, their trailers/cubes were delivered on time, and they picked up the empty containers and trailer within an hour of my contacting them. They provide a combination of reasonable cost and excellent service, so if you want to do some packing yourself, I would definitely recommend them. Moving is a horrible experience, but ABF helped make it bearable.
Please don't rely on their quotes and recommendations for hired helpers. You will be very disappointed in the service you get and the total cost of your move. I called and spoke to supervisors several times the day of my move. Supervisors with both the HireAHelper company and Upack. They don't care that they are not properly packing your container. Both companies make extra money. They admitted that it was unfortunate but I did hire these companies. My quote from Upack was for $3,405.00 and my quote from HireaHelper was for $532.00. I actually paid $5,205.00 and $982.00 respectively. I told the movers i wanted to take pictures of the inside of the container but the would not open the doors for me to do so. I did manage to get a few pictures before they were finished. I was forced to leave some of my things behind. Important things. Things I valued!
