ABF Relocube® Reviews
I was impressed with U-Packs organization, communication and timeliness. I was able to update and check my reservation online, I received emails, texts and phone calls with updates and they were one time in delivering the Cube. After reading horror story reviews, I felt like moving using U-Pack was a way to stay in control of the process including loading it and putting my own locks on the Cube.
upack provided plenty of time to have the things packed and i had the advantage of weekend which wasn't counted. They delivery was also made in the lowest duration day (done in 2 days though it was said it could be done 2-5 days) with no additional charge. the space calculator provided by them online gave good idea to identify if one relocube was good for the little things i had. Cost mentioned included all.
Highly recommend and will use again; Relocube was in excellent condition. Recommend significant cushioning under any wood furniture since vibration over distance affects the furniture - wish I had been warned. If you are moving to a TBD address, be sure to query ABF extensively to ensure Relocube gets delivered to optimum location. This cube ended up going form MA to PA to MA for a very small address change since it was out of the distribution zone. It ended up being delivered by a two truck that could have been used from the first location - very odd and added significant time to the delivery.
This option was the best solution for our downsizing move. Have moved household 9 times with pro moving Co.s & self move with that national orange colored truck rental Co. Met or exceeded expectations by delivering a third pod to my Colorado location a day earlier than promised when it became apparent that a third would be needed. Pods clean & inspire of snow on the pack out day, dry. Picked up as expected.Customer service was excellent & very accommodating. Delivered with awareness of how pod would need to be positioned for access & door width. (Smaller pad space than pickup point ) Will highly recommend to those with a DIY moving mindset, would use again. Chose based on equipment & pricing.
I moved during Hurricane Dorian and was thankful for the patience of the transportation company during all aspects of the move. I was moving to Miami and the transport company agreed to store my container at no extra cost while I made my way to Miami...a full week after Dorian left the Miami area! This was one less worry for me since I was already nervous about driving in the rain during the mountains of Kentucky!
ABF is a great way to move your items across the country. They parked a trailer in front of our home for a few days. We loaded it when it was convenient for us and we scheduled the time when they would come and pick the trailer up and move it across the country for us. They will drop it off at the front door of our new home so we can unpack it there. Simple. Convenient. Easy.
I chose UPack because the price was right. It was mostly fine; there's not really all that much you can mess up with picking something up, throwing it on a truck, storing it, and bringing it back. However, a couple of things were a struggle: First, but minor- I was away on a work trip when my ReloCube needed to be delivered, so I had given them a friend's contact information to call when they were about to deliver so she could point them to the right place. They called me instead, I didn't answer, and they left it at a less convenient drop off point. Not the biggest deal, but still annoying. However- on the other end, they delivered me the wrong ReloCube. Apparently the system (at least here in DC/MD) is that someone looks up your account and *hand-writes* the identifying number of your ReloCube at the top of your contract. The guy who delivered it did nothing wrong, as he found that one and brought it to me, but it was not my stuff and didn't match the number that was actually attached to my account. I had to wait around for an extra four hours while they solved the problem before I could go back to work. Again, frustrating, but overall my stuff still got there and mostly in one piece. I'm calling this average, so not sure what that says about me.
The cube was dropped off the day we were expecting it. We were able to load all of our things (although it was a bit tight) into the cube. The cube was meant to be picked up on a Monday so that it could make it to SF on time, however they pushed back the pick-up date until Wednesday. We were nervous about it arriving on time (as we had city permits secured for a specific date), but it arrived the morning we were expecting it. No trouble getting the permits or the pod where we needed it to be. It was perfect for our relocation from NY to CA! Would definitely use this company again!!
This is my 2nd time using ABF/Upack relocube. I absolutely LOVE using this company and have had amazing customer service each and every time. The team is very responsive via emails and the terminal ABS teams are outstanding! Cannot boast enough just how amazing this service is compared to others. Tom in Orange is a total pro at dropping off and picking up the cubes, and Suzanne is a rockstar and truly an angel. You can rest easy that this company and the affiliates that they use are going to take very good care of you and your things.
It was a case of terrible communications skills on the part of just about everybody. From the guy who dropped off the pods who said we probably would be able to set up our delivery for a Friday, but that's when the pods arrived in town. With no way to reach anybody to set-up a delivery, it's now five business days into this and we only know that the pods are supposed to be here sometime between 8:00 am and 8:00 pm. This makes it impossible for me to schedule the unloading crew until Tuesday morning. I have had to take off two extra days from work, so not only has this been a bad experience, it will end up costing me 1.5 times what I actually paid Upack. This company does not have its act together regarding moving peoples' belongings from place to place. Next time, I'm using somebody else. Pods would have been cheaper, less stressful, and less costly in the long run.
I've used this company before. We used a large trailer. They drop it off, you fill it, they pick it up and take it to your new location. Its important to pack you own stuff well so that it does not get damaged on the trip. We wrapped our furniture in blankets as well as shrink wrap. Boxes need to be sturdy, especially if on the bottom of the pile. By doing some or all of the packing or loading yourself, you spend less on the move. The large trailer comes with a ramp, so be ready to work with that as you load or unload. The trailer floor is about 4 feet off the ground. We hired loaders for most of the heavy lifting, but also did some of the work ourselves. When you learn which phone numbers to use for what, you can get all your questions answered and handle the details.
ABF was prompt on the delivery of the unit both at the origin location and the destination location. Both locations were also in constant contact during their respective legs of the journey. While some items did get damaged in transit that is no fault of ABF and is a reminder that if your items are not secured properly then you never know what can happen. I would gladly use their service again for a long distance move as the container was well constructed and they do not force you to pay storage fees if you do not need them.
Transportation worked out perfectly. Even thought it’s not the cheapest option out there, I went with Relocube because I was on a really strict/fast timeline for my move and it transported my pod from East Coast to West Coast about 5 days faster than other competitors. It’s also a metal container rather than plywood/rain, which helped out a lot when thunderstorms were happening when I was packing! The ABF folks on both sides of the country were super friendly and efficient when delivering the cube. Would definitely use them again.
UPack was fine aside from the mixed stories I got from their Sales folks. The first told me the units were airtight, leak-proof and stored in a warehouse between moves. Once the units arrived, I called and asked where the warehouse was located only to learn they don't use a warehouse. They store the cubes in an uncovered lot they own. When we unpacked, one of the cubes had leaked and we lost one piece of furniture due to mold. I'm guessing that one cube was damaged. ABF was good to work with aside from a staff member at the Savannah ,location who was quite rude. Diane and her team in Atlanta were amazing on the delivery side! They were kind, professional and caring. THANK YOU!
I had never heard of UPack before our move. We initially booked with PODS but they screwed up the scheduling and couldn't drop off or pick up when we needed. I called UPack and they were able to get us containers on super short notice and pick them up the next day. 2 Relocubes ended up being the perfect amount of space and they were able to drop them right in front of our door in the busy NYC street where we moved. I'm very happy with how everything went. Would definitely recommend UPack!
