We called customer service the night before our move, they confirmed our truck, we went to pick it up, no Truck. Then we got a hassle from the company to replace it with another truck would be additional charges and a whole new contract. When we did manage to get a truck, it set us back 2 hours that we had to pay the movers for. The truck we got had a plastic bag shoved in as a replacement for a gas cap, both windshield wipers blew off in the rain which we had to replace, and during a 1500 mile trip the check light came on. Customer service did not offer to help or reimburse us.
Unfortunately, picking up the rental truck was an extremely stressful experience. We reserved the truck 3 weeks prior to the date we needed it. The day before we were supposed to pick it up, my husband received a call from the pick-up location saying that they weren't sure they were going to have the size truck we needed, and could we use a smaller one. We went to the agency to look at the size of available trucks and confirmed that we needed the size we originally reserved. The agent said that she should have one being returned that evening, but that she would let us know if it didn't come back in, else we could pick it up in the morning. We showed up to pick up the truck at the agreed time and the agent wasn't there yet. When she did arrive about 10 minutes later, the truck was not there. She had to go pick up the truck and bring it back, which nearly made us miss our move slot with the movers. I would never rent a truck from Budget in the future because of this experience.
We had trouble picking up the truck in the first place. When we showed up to pick the truck at the scheduled time of 8:30 a. m., we learned that the truck was not yet available. We were not able to pick it up until 11:45 a. m. Meanwhile we had helpers waiting to load the truck. Needles to say, this situation was a bit of a cluster. Once we were able to load the truck things worked out better, and the truck operated fine on our 1900-mile move.
If I could select zero stars, then I would. HORRIBLE - do not rent from Budget!! After the truck we rented broke down with 500 miles left to go, Budget kept us stranded for more than 48 hours in a motel room in an awful location with our entire possessions and our 3 cats. Budget kept giving us the run-around for over 2 days while they "checked inventory" for a replacement truck. I took the initiative on day number 3 and found our own replacement truck 20 miles away. It still took Budget another 8 hours to get us back on the road! I DO NOT RECOMMEND Budget Truck Rentals.
The truck was not serviced. We were left stranded on the road and had to do overnight stay in a hotel. The truck was dirty, driver's door banged up and does not shut completely so we had to tolerate loud street noise from Denver to Florida. The brake caliper from the trailer tire flew off, there was no oil in the truck. When I went to drop off the truck, I heard another customer complaining which confirmed my fears of not using Budget again.
First of all, Budget Rental only had a 16 or 26 ft. No in-between sizes were available. The 26 ft is MASSIVE! We went with the 16ft and we had to make two trips of just furniture and several trips for the boxes in the back of trucks and vans. We would go with Uhaul next time because they have more size options. At the time we used a Budget discount, but I don't think it saved us any money after all.
The only good thing about the truck was that it got really good mileage. The truck was filthy, the truck had to be swept out because of all the ash from the fires here, there were pallets that had to be removed. I rented two bundles of blankets, but was only given one bundle. I was very unhappy with this experience. I have beige furniture so some ash got on my furniture. The truck was a good size, plenty of room. I chose Budget because I had good experiences in the past. Pick-up and drop-off went well.
Customers service was top notch, the lady that was there was on top of her game. She took care of everyone so quickly and got them on the road. I was happy to see that they knew I had a very long trip and filled the tank to full and also had my wipers change the day before I got there. Highly recommend.
Nice "work-horse" truck. It handled every road condition that was thrown its way. It used a lot of gas, but that was to be expected. I was a little disappointed that the truck was pretty dirty when I picked it up. (interior) Otherwise, I was thrilled that it did as well as it did. No issues to handle a long, cross-country trip. Thank you budget. p.s. - Used AARP discount code for nice additional savings. Much appreciated.1,200.00
First truck broke down, they moved my things to a second truck (not taking care of my things). Then 2nd truck broke down (unsafe) and they were going to give me a 3rd truck but when they said they could not guarantee a good condition truck, I hired movers to move my things and drove my vehicle, Worst experience EVER!
The truck was rented to us dirty. We had to wipe down and sweep out the ab. The windshield was dirty. The truck began leaking brake fluid. The service person came out to the hotel at 3 am. Assessed that the wheel was loose from the hub and that he needed a part. He came back in the morning and repaired the wheel. Budget said they would comp our stay.
Never use again. Got my reservation wrong. Needed a lift gate, reserved a lift gate, but when I went to pick up, no lift gate available, but still charged me the lift gate price. Cab smelled like smoke. Butts of cigarettes in the cab well and old mens pants in back of truck. No indication of cleaning or wiping down due to covid from previous user.
Arranging rental online was quick and easy. A lot depends on how good the pick up rental location & drop off location is. The drop-off location was very good, quick & helpful but the pick up location was not good and the truck they rented us shouldn't have been on the road & probably wouldn't pass inspection - bald tires, very high mileage, foggy discolored windshield, etc.
