I was never called, emailed or texted that my truck was changed to a different location than what I booked for. When I arrived the place was not even open I had to wait an hour when the owners showed up the wife was very rude when I was trying to make sure I was at the right place and explain that I had done my order for a different location. I had to wait another hour for them to open and get the truck ready. When I returned the truck I was charged for not folding the blankets when I was trying to explain it was pouring down rain and I was too short to climb up in the back of the truck so I could fold them she didn’t care.
The Uhaul location had given our rental to someone else the night before and only discovered that when I showed up and no other 26 foot truck was available. Since Uhaul had changed my rental location the day before I called my preferred (larger) location and someone had just returned a 26 foot one way truck so I was able to get that truck. That Uhaul location was very helpful and had the truck ready to go by the time we arrived. That Uhaul location would get 5 stars. The truck was in good shape and relatively new. The only issue for me was that a previous renter had apparently chain smoked in the cab. I drove for 600 miles with the window down for fresh air. So this Uhaul rental was a mixed bag; some really good, some not so good and one near catastrophe of being without a truck when I had to move out that day.
Truck was clean and worked fine. Reservation was for 1 PM but the office for the storage place was closed for lunch till 1:30 (even though we had made the reservation for 1 PM and not told that time was not available). We had to make an extra trip. Fortunately, I had allowed some lag time before the movers arrived, so i didn't have movers sitting around waiting for the truck.
Almost new 26' Ford van rode like a truck, even when fully loaded. Cabin interior, being HD, not exactly cushy. We drove non-stop, so resting at truck stops and rest areas was difficult. Problem with wiring harness on auto transport caused problem on truck, delayed about 2 hours while UHaul did repairs. I blame this on a previous idiot user who did not report damage on transporter. Generous allowance for miles and days. Pick-up dealer was good, drop-off dealer charged me for extra miles I didn't use, but Uhaul remedied this later. I chose Uhaul because they offer an auto transport. Have used Uhaul several times, and will probably do so again.
