I've used Hire-A-Helper in the past -- 3 times or more -- and I've always been happy with the result, and my experience with Baby Huey is no exception. They worked hard -- despite the very hot and humid day, and most had masks on -- and quickly dispatched all our furniture and boxes into their (rather large) truck. The move included a 1-hour drive and then they back it up to the storage unit and it all came off in half the time it took to load it. (There's a reason for that... the start point was 3-stories! The endpoint was ground level.) There was one qualm: not all of the helpers wore a mask but we stayed 10-feet away from them so it wasn't a major issue; I definitely would've preferred they all wear masks (we did). They were all friendly and the guy in charge even worked through an adjustment which saved us some money.
My only other issue was the fact that there are really two IT systems at work: Hire-A-Helper's and the moving company. They both would contact me (not a problem; I prefer that), but the real problem was when I needed to adjust the "order." Between the time I got an estimate and the day of the move, we managed to sell a sofa, loveseat, large chair, large dining room tables and chairs, and a TV table. That represented a pretty big change so I wanted an adjustment. Baby Huey's system accepted the adjustment but it didn't seem to help with the overall price. It turns out, I should have made the adjustment through Hire-A-Helper, but it was not clear how I could do that. So, there is some disconnect between H-a-H and the mover. Generally, save yourself some money and get things squared away with the moving company at the outset. Making changes is not a good thing and you may end up paying more than you should. Unfortunately, I did.

The team arrived on time and called 40 minutes prior to arrival. When they arrived they looked at everything to load in such order to prevent stacking. At the second pickup location they stayed busy and made quick work of what I had. Everything was wrapped with pads and shrink wrapped. My belongings filled a 26" truck. During loading & unloading they took special care not to scratch or dent any pcs. They finished early and earned a nice tip for their timeliness and professionalism. I would call them again if needed.

Originally I was told that I needed one truck and two men. With a follow up of baby Huey’s manager he told me I needed three men. I actually needed two trucks and for man! We started early and finished around 1 AM in the morning. That’s ridiculous! The workers did work hard. However, there were so many things broken and destroyed I would never use this company again!

What can a customer expect after booking with you?
We will reach out to provide you excellent service from start to finish. We will listen to your needs and act to get your move taken care of as smooth as possible
What can a customer expect on moving day if they hire you?
We will call/text you in route to your location, set home protection down to ensure no damage to property. Disassemble your furniture/appliances. Blanket and shrink wrap them, load/unload, and full set up
How should a customer prepare for moving day?
Make sure if we need to bring any packing materials for tvs, lamps, glass tops, pictures/mirrors, or mattress covers. If not have everything off the tops of furniture. Put all important documents, money, jewelry in your car prior to our arrival, Put all personal items you want to move in one location/area

What training do you provide your crew members?
12 hours of packing with trainer, 12 hours of prepping furniture, and 6months minimum before they can become a driver/crew leader. Most of our crew leaders have been with us 5-10years.
