ABF UPack® Reviews
Even though my choices on container vehicles were limited due to living in a rural part of Maine I am completely satisfied with the U-Pack and ABF service provider. The price was reasonable, the truck was clean, the driver who dropped off the truck was cordial, patient with my tight driveway and he took the time to answer questions and show me how the ramp unfolds. I knew that was something I wouldn't be doing but it was good to know just the same. Although my shipment has not arrived at its destination (moving cross country) given the contact so far I am very encouraged that all will go well on the receiving end as well. I fully expect all will go well, and with that confidence I would say yes, I would hire them again.
We initially booked one trailer but had concerns our stuff would fit. So we added a second trailer reservation and changed our destination choice. Upack was very cooperative and helpful in this process. Eventually everything fit in one trailer and cancelling the second was easy. Drop off was timely with a friendly cooperative driver. Pick up has not occurred yet. The trailer was "broom clean" but there was a lot of fine debris/dust on the floor I vacuumed up.
trailer had a leak and there was a small bit of water damage to some items. also, one of two trailers did not complete a full weight ticket. water damage issue has not been resolved yet, but ABF responded to the weight ticket quickly and satisfactory. even with the issues still a very cost effective way to move.
This is a great service. They dropped off my trailer, I loaded it and they picked it up the same day I called. It was out of the terminal that night and on the way. It only took 1 day to get to my new state instead of the quoted 2-4. Price beats the rental trucks when you take the fuel into account, plus no driving for you. Will definitely use them again.
U Pack failed to put the bulkhead in at the origination! The driver refused to assist in putting it in the truck, did not request help from dispatch, and did not even attempt to have it installed at the station prior to departure. Unfortunately, a 72" TV was seriously damaged! I hope they reimburse me for the repairs or a new TV!
The Kentucky half of our move with UPack was wonderful. They dropped the trailer on time, picked it up the next day and arrived safe and sound with our belongings. However then our problems started. We had a 3 month furnished rental in Portland and planned on storing with Upack. We were told there was no room available and we had to make other arrangements within 3 days. AND the only way they bring the trailer is to drop it for 24 hours. Try finding a storage facility that will let you leave a freight trailer in their loading dock or in front of the storage units blocking other customers for 24 hours. I thought it unreasonable of UPack to not have the driver wait one hour for our 12 feet of trailer space to be unloaded. CONCLUSION: if you are moving to a big city do not assume they will store it and thus use another system. We ended up paying $600 to have our stuff unloaded at Upack into another truck, then unloaded again into a storage unit.
The size worked well for our large home. We used the whole 28' trailer. The trailer was in good shape. Customer service was easy while booking, pick-up, etc. The only hitch in our whole moving was drop-off at our new location. We were told a certain time and it was 3 hours later. (My husband was on the phone with dispatch every couple hours) We ended up having to pay movers for sitting. Otherwise, everything else worked out well. Just don't try to plan too tightly the drop-off time.
I loved the pricing and the convenience of using the upack trailer. They dropped it off in NY on a Friday picked it up on Monday and it arrived in GA on Friday. The customer service at the origin and destination sites were prompt and knowledgeable. The trailer was in great condition. I found them after realizing the pod would be too small and I am glad I did because I saved over 1000 dollars. If I had to move again I would use them a second time.
They were the best cost efficient option. They were very easy to schedule drop off and pick up dates. They dropped off the trailers when they said they would, let me keep them over the weekend so I could load it, then picked them up when I was finished. Since I had to store one trailer's worth of things prior to selling my home, they stored it locally, then sent it forward once my second trailer was picked up. I would use this company again. Though I really hope I don't have to move again any time soon.
expected a smaller, more easily maneuverable unit & delivery truck, but it worked, much to my storage unit manager's shock very clean container and skilled staff took time to educate me on how to handle the necessary parts wonderful customer service, I would use them again ended up using 6' more than estimated and wondered if estimate could have been closer
I always pick these guys when there is not a huge price difference between a trailer, and a just a truck rental that I would drive myself. You just estimate how much room you will need, and they quote you a price. If you use over that amount, the quote will tell you how much extra the rental will be. If you are able to pack your goods into less footage on the trailer, you get money back! The company was always willing and able to drop off/pickup on my schedule, and were more than willing to accommodate schedule changes. The trailer was in good condition, and the driver walked you through the process of pickup/delivery. I highly recommend this company as an alternative to a truck rental, especially for those not willing to drive a huge, gas guzzling rental truck. Drive your car(s) and let someone else drive your stuff for you, is my opinion
I went with ABF because they actually guaranteed my arrival date. My stuff was driven from St. Louis to Salt Lake City in 3 days--over a weekend. They stored it for free for a week because it was there at my destination much earlier, before I even was! The drivers on both ends were kind and helpful. I would highly recommend them for future moves!
Other than being unable to get our containers early due to a confusing online system, they got the job done. The containers are a bit smaller than I expected, after being told how much they could hold I thought they'd be bigger. We did have to get rid of some of our less nice furniture in order to keep our 2-bedroom to 2 units.
The trailer that was dropped was dirty and 15 minutes late (of their 12 hour drop window). The estimation of trailer size was off. I was quoted for 17 feet of trailer to fit a 1500 SQF home, screen in patio, 2 car garage workshop, and 1 car attached garage. We ended up using the entire 28 foot trailer and still had to leave quite a few items. Other than a few rude individual customer service reps my experience was as expected (Also talked to some Great Reps). They dropped trailer, picked it up, dropped trailer, and picked it up. The drivers were great to deal with.
After much consideration of many alternatives, we rented a 28' trailer from UPack. Their driver dropped it on our driveway as scheduled; we loaded it ourselves with helpers; UPack's driver picked it up as scheduled, drove it to our new home, and we unloaded ourselves, again with local helpers. It was definitely cost effective.
U Pack is an awesome service! They delivered my trailer on time and picked it up promptly after it was loaded. The communication is top-notch and the people have been kind, and professional. I would highly recommend this service. I am moving cross country and it is a lot of work and they have helped to make it much simpler, and help with the logistics. Thank you U Pack !
Quoted 6-8 days but it took 14 days. They lost the truck in Pittsburgh until I called to see why it was not checked in, they found the trailer in the lot.... It sat for 5 total and 3 business days. Then the trailer sat in Denver for 6 days and 4 business days because they were backed up . They were cheap but I'm not sure the wait and hassle was worth the savings.
I will never drive my own uHaul or Ryder truck again. UPACK.com is great alternative that is more cost efficient than the PODS company too. They give their uBoxes or a large trailer. You load it and pay only for the space you use! They move it to your new house and you unload. Great customer service and on time, courteous drivers. IT is the only way to move.
