U-Haul® Reviews
I truly love the company as being one of the better and available diy moving companies around. Loses one star because size of truck and how much can be moved is not accurate. Had to leave things behind from apartment because not all fit in truck even though truck size was specified for that size apartment.
Unfortunately and unbeknownst to us, our 15 foot rental Uhaul truck was infested with ants. We found this out the first day of driving and each day realized the infestation was beyond our control. We did our best to manage and exterminate the ants however they did get into our belongings. As a result, we had to inspect every single box, bin, furniture to review what items were contaminated and trashing them immediately upon unloading. Our mover experience was wonderful however it is extremely frustrating to throw out your belongings after driving them across the country. We are in the process of filing a claim with Uhaul due to the cost of damages, time required for cleaning, and compensation for overall exeperience. We paid $2700 for the Uhaul rental, $1000 in gas, and lost many items in the process. At this time, I do not recommend Uhaul due to the poor maintenance and inspection of vehicles. Make sure you shrink wrap all of your furniture, boxes, bins, and items.
Uhaul saved the day! I had originally booked a moving truck with another company that started with a "B". Had the confirmation & called a day before I flew in to pick it up. Got there & they didn't have it! Had moving helpers waiting on me. On the verge of panic, I went to the closest Uhaul & they were able to get me the size truck I needed in 15 minutes. Uhaul absolutely saved the day! Thanks Uhaul! J
The truck handled well, as did the car tow dolly. However, my reservation wasn't confirmed until 5 days before my move, which made me anxious, and even though I'd called twice to remind the company the time I'd be there to have the tow dolly attached, car loaded, it took 1 1/2 hours to get it finally done. Due to lack of workers, I think. The manager and others were as helpful as they could be.
It was super easy to pick up and return the rental through the 24/7 app pick up. I’m Not sure if it’s in the instructions I probably should’ve looked before but it requires additional verification, I think maybe if the contract holder and driver have different names. There’s an alternate contact option and the person has to be available to answer the phone, passport and/or your lease agreement and you have to choose 2. But it was still pretty easy and straightforward.
Our stuff was transported on time, safely, and in great shape. As long as we didn’t have to make any changes or need customer service, it was great. If we needed ANY customer service, it was a challenge and the app… the app is virtually worthless and slow to make any changes or do anything but make an initial reservation.
U-Haul provided me with a truck that had known issues. The mechanic at the pickup site snickered as he asked me if I was traveling far, proceeded to reset the vehicle diagnostic code with his scanner, and allowed me to drive the 26ft moving truck with an attached car hauling trailer across country "2100 miles" even though I asked for another vehicle. The truck had little power, spit and sputtered under Excelleration, and the fuel milage reflected a vehicle that was not fully operational.
I brought the household to Philadelphia from Pittsburgh for an unload and carry. I think that, 'We pick Things Up and Put Things Down' could have provided better equipment for them, but the crew said "No Problem" and did the job. The owner, Karim, was good, I lost no time, nothing was damaged, so no complaints
